I am interested to find out how the Python is doing.
There has been so much in the way of bad press and arguments on this site and others, with certain people saying some pretty nasty stuff about it.
I'm not interested in that.
After hearing of a fair few issues with many manufacturers struggling / selling / having financial difficulties, I wondered how a car that has had sooo much press (mainly bad) has been coping.
Are there any owners out there? or others that have knowledge of it's success / amount of sales and (again after the things that have been said) the back up and service received that can comment.
If anyone has no idea of the 'issues' I mention, please do not raise comment here. Please search on the forum.
I don't want this thread to get binned, so if you have bad things / non factual things to say please don't.

Its been "handbags at dawn" in the Cobra Club website re the Python in recent days. Definitely worth a look if you want to see a group grown men having a "tizzy fit".

Just browsed the Cobra forum (thanks for the link Meeja), but couldn't see much recent stuff.

Thanks, just read through most of it.
It seems to be the same old rants. Not quite what I wanted.
Only thing mentioned along the lines of what I was after is:
"RVD has made over thirty chassis/ bobys to date, two cars under way in sri lanka, 6 kits and two nemesis in the USA 5 kits in stock from last shipment in november and 14 or 15 under way with customers and two demo cars the blue chevy 340 bhp car and the older red demo (prototype not 100% as customer's cars)"
From this it looks like they have sold 6 to the States and 2 in the UK and have 2 demo cars.
The remaining are either under construction or in stock waiting for buyers.
The 14-15 'with customers' could be either for USA or UK and the same for the 'in stock'.
It also looks like they have changed the seat positioning (and chassis to accomodate this) and the ball joint.
Don't know if any punter has finished one etc.
I'm not in the market (ATM) for a kit, and have no axe to grind, but I couldn't seriously consider a car being made (designed?) by someone who can't string a coherent sentence together.
FFS! if you can't spell or use correct grammar, but are trying to make a point or counter argument, then why not get someone to type it for you? Would go a LONG way towards creating a more professional image...

To be fair, I believe that the gentleman concerned suffers from Dyslexia.
Having said that, there are such things as spellcheckers and proof-readers these days.
I've read a roadtest on the Python which was unbiased in that it wasn't written by either of the 2 mags concerned in the eerrmmm debate, if I remember correctly was written in a BMW owners mag. It was reasonably complimentary toward the overall finish of the car, but not particularly complimentary toward the seating position (which has now been sorted?)& it's road manners/ride etc.
Personally I would be concerned if I was being asked to part with funds without taking immediate delivery of anything due to the doubts over the ongoing reliability of the supplying company.

That's the way it works with kit cars - and all specialist cars for that matter. They're made to order, not churned out by the thousand and left out in a field waiting for customers.

With this and the previous post it makes it sound like buying a kit car is a pretty big gamble.
And we wonder why people are hesitent about buying.
Lots of bitching and "debate" about the Python.

Has anyone done tests on the car and its components?
A Cobra is a mean bit of kit and as such MUST be correctly designed and built.
Too dangerous not to.
If these things are all ok then it leaves a personality clash between the "throwing my toys out of the pram kids" to be sorted out over Python.
There's nothing like positive feedback from happy customers and impartial technical people to kill this stupid kids rant off.
No wonder kits get a bad name if people involved in the scene behave like this!
By the way I am a huge kit fan and am busting a gut to build a car.
Lets get FACTS and truth out to kill this off eh?
