DVD To Ipod Video

[grazer15]

Thinking of buying a new Ipod to replace my knackered Mini. But instead of getting a nano I am considering a Video. What I would like to know is can I take any movie from my DVD shelf and convert it to watch on the video? I know alot of DVD's now have piracy protection but all I would like to do is convert my own films to watch on the ipod when I am travelling. Any help gratefully received
