BAGHDAD/WASHINGTON - Saddam Hussein's son on Tuesday rejected a U.S. ultimatum to the Iraqi leader to flee the country, vowing to fight the invasion that President Bush said could start in less than 48 hours.

The wives and mothers of those Americans who will fight us will weep blood, not tears," elder son Uday said in a statement that appeared to kill off all hope that war might be averted.
