Asking price for S2 with chassis rot?

seems a shame that you would have to sell it for a pittance solely due to a small amount of chassis rust. Whilst you cannot afford to undertake the work now could you not store it somewhere and start the project once you are settled into your new place and money isnt so much of a problem. If £1500 - £2000 is all you are likely to get you are throwing away £4k - £5k of the value of the car. If you do a lot of the work yourself it wouldnt cost you anything like that sort of money to get it to roadworthy/v good condition.
Don't do it Pete, I nearly sold mine when I bought a house three years ago, fortunately the Gods conspired against me and on 2 consecutive Summers there was something to stop me selling it (Immobiliser fire, rotten carpets). I didn't sell because 1. I couldn't afford to put the car right before advertising & 2. I could afford even less to sell the car at such a loss.
Have it back on the road now and absolutly rejoicing over the fact that I kept hold of it until I could afford to run it again.
Prices have come down so much since I bought the car 5 years ago, that it is not now worth selling.
When the time comes for a Griff or Cerbie, my Girlfriend will just have to get used to driving an S2, because I don't think I will sell unless the prices go back up which is VERY unlikely.

I'm in a right pickle here. I honestly don't want to sell the car. Apart from the financial loses invloved, I love the thing and get such a buzz from owning it.
Trouble is, 1) given house prices, I can't afford a place with off-road parking / garage so there a legal implications for road storage. 2) I would want to do a proper job sorting the work out, which is either hugely expensive or very time consuming. I have neither the cash nor expertese / facilities for this 3) With tight budgets relating to house buying, I don't think renting a garage in the locality is feasible either.

Pete - don't give up on renting a garage!
Check the local rags... send a few e-mails... even plonk something in the PH classifieds... check with local letting agents... it's all worth a crack!
I did this, and ended up with a secure garage for £30 a month...

Pete, I maybe able to help on the storage front, a friend of mine rents a huge barn in Chisworth on a disused Chicken Farm, I stored mine there for a while for the princely sum of £5 per week.
Alternatevly have you had a quote from the new non franchised TVR specialists in Stockport (can't remember their name, I'm sure someone will know).
Cheers Keiran, might be in contact re: storage. I've got a few things to sort out first namely whether I can swing some deal on the mortgage to generate funds to sort the car and getting a quote for the work.

-it's only a little hole and I had to hit it with a hammer to get it that way, my own fault really. Last time I'm poking about motors with a hammer

I was the one who got the S3 for £1750, see my web site, two months later and about £700 it has just passed the MOT. Most of the money was taken up by the replacement of one of the rear trailing arms. If it is just a small amount of rot you will probably get away with lifting the body a couple of inches at the relevant side, then try and find someone to weld in a length of tube, you could do it for less then £100.

Hmmm, it's in a pig of a place, right where the passenger seatbelt anchorage point is on the outrigger. Had a really good nose about underneath today (since the tarmac was dry ) and can't find anything else. In fact I was quite surprised how good the rest appears....although I'll add I've not taken a hammer to it to test

Hopefully Shnozz. Driver side outrigger is sound as a pound which gives me confidence that damage is localised. Plus I think the area directly outside my prospective new gaff is classed as off-road (need to get the solicitor to check this) so storage without RFL isn't going to be too much of a pain.
-Still a couple of quid short for the house though, which is why my brand new Cannondale is in Loot No chassis rot on the aluminium frame though any takers?
