Noble goes off road!!

Mr Noble that is. 
While I have no wheels on the car I thought a solid days riding at Thetford on my 2 wheeled weapon would be in order! And what a beautiful piece of machinery she is too! Truly awesome at tackling all the Thetford could throw at it.
Can't wait to get my 4 wheels back though!!

Can't wait to get my 4 wheels back though!! I went for a ride this morning. A slight breeze but not too bad. Having had an accident on my bike (cut up spectacularly by a driver) and fracturing my shoulder bone I won't chance going offroad just yet.
Still, I had a nice ride around Windsor and being oblivious to the fact it is rememberance Sunday, had a pleasnat surprise of a procession
On days like today I've always found it difficult to decide what to do. Drive the car or ride the bike. But then I don't drive a Noble

She's a beaut. Im going for a ride in Thetford for my first time in a couple of weeks, whats it like?
Been a good few years since i've been on my mountain bike and it has buckled wheels and the front brake has no hydraulic fluid in it. should be interesting.
However I can't wait to take it out again...I still love her

Yup. I can't touch the ground very easily when riding. But my knees are still bent when leg is fully extended, so its the correct seat hight. Feet are clipped in anyway. Also, I rarely come out of the saddle, what with her being such an amazing star at soaking up the bumps.
I have just fitted some riser bars instead of the standard flat ones. Make it much nicer to ride and has stopped the pain in my lower back too.
Now if only I could fine a saddle that didn't kill my butt after an hour or so. Its so excruciating I have to sit side saddle!
I'm told there is a place up by Lake Graffam in NW Cambs that will take an impression of your butt and mould you a saddle to fit. Sounds like :cloud(: to me!!!

Keep adjusting the saddle till you get it right, takes a long time but when you get it right you'll know, Graffam water is supposed to be a really good ride, keep wanting to go there.

Just to say that I've ridden (and walked) around Grafham Water quite a few times and it really is very pleasant indeed - about 10 miles of varied track, much of it at the water's edge. I don't know about the service to take a mould of your a**e and make a custom saddle though Greg - sounds delightful!!

Adrian, do you mean, keep trying different saddles or keep moving it? Its more to do with the contact points, both the sit bones (not sure of the real term) are totally numb this morning and were very painfull last night. I can only assume that the same saddle will always put pressure on the same points no matter what potition its in.
I keep meaning to go riding up at Grafham too. But the 3 lads I go with all live in Newmarket and so Thetford seems the best option. There are some great woodland runs up there, and not toooo much uphill!!

Problem may be with my seat post. Its a Richey WCS carbon one, and the frame post is angled far back, but the groves in the top of the seat post don't allow the saddle to be angled far enough forward to be level, so it points slightly upwards over the handle bars which is very annoying and may be why its so painful.
I wonder if I can get a little pencil file in the grooves and file the carbon along a bit more???

That's the same post as I use, maybe its not suited to the frame, id go to a bike shop and look at some others or www.chainreactioncycles.com

Its the OEM one that the bike comes fitted with. My bike is actually the RC 10 which is the same as the MC but with a better geo for my size and shape.
Loving the look of the new Scott Spark!!
It'd be interesting to see how far forward your seatpost groves go. I bet mine is not quite right.
I'll take some pics of it later and have a try at filing the channels out a little. Just worry that filing it might crack it or drastically weaken it..................

I'll give you a call tomorrow then about the seating. What are you thinking? I ask as I am planning to go to Evans in XScape, Milton Keynes tomorrow as I'm working over that way.
They have a bum measuring and saddle fitting service.
Is it a common thing with the rithcey seatposts not going forward enough?
