Its not too bad but the taco needle is up and down and never really settles. Its only strated happening recently. The car has done about 52k. Has anyone had any experience of this?

Have you checked coolant level recently?

(And try cleaning the Stepper Motor!)

When this happens on the 2.9 V6 it is often caused by dirt in the air flow meters.

...and while you're at it, clean the stepper motor!

Mine was the same, clean the stepper motor and all is fine for a few days then it happened again.
Now have a new stepper motor and all is fine

about 90 quid.

Well mine was done under warranty, but the invoice says 122.70, that's 77 quid parts, 27 quid labour and VAT.
You could probably do it yourself, I didn't as the warranty covered it.
