Adjusting the AVO Suspension
Discussion
On my trip from Wiltshire to VW today, some of the roads not exactly "billiard tables" and at high speed, the bumby road, coupled with the firmness of the suspension wasn't actually very condusive to an exciting journey. In fact, it was actually a little bit white knuckle at times.
So, I want to soften it a bit and was wondering if anyone else has already done this and how far the, err, turned their knob...
Still want to maintain a degree of firmness but not too much as to get be airbourne when I hit a ripple in road.
Anyone who says I should actually slow down will be executed for blasphemy

Daft question but were settings for various conditions not provided with the sussies?
Personally I would experiment.
Start by turning all the way up and seeing how it feels, then back off the compression damping first and then the rebound.
Golden rule is only do one thing at a time and make a note of it.
It'll take a while but is fun along the way.

OI!! Those roads are like billiard tables they are...., at least the one over the plain....?
The rears on my elusive car are in the middle, lock to lock. The fronts are done the same and then with a quarter to the left (softer) as the car is better that way.
Think you are right that the car can run hard but once used to hit it feels 'tight' to the road whereas in standard trim it really does not. Think I 'may' soften it for the annual family holiday but by that time I will be so used to it as it is.....

I slackened them right off so the car went into bouncy castle mode, then started tightening them up till it felt controlled, but not too jarring. Wasn't desperately scientific. About a mile from the house there's some hardstanding just off a roundabout that joins a short section of dual carriageway to a B-road with some bends. Gave me the opportunity to accelerate and break hard in a straight line and have some corners to play with. Three or four adjustments under the car had it feeling OK.
One word of warning. The adjustment thumb wheel on the shocks jammed solid on mine after a few months. I've not been able to shift them since. Might have been a dose of waxoil, might have been corrosion (they certainly look a bit sad now), might have been me be incredibly stupid and not understanding something about the shocks.
p.s. not suer if the adjustable AVOs you have would be the same as mine .... single adjustment ones available a couple of years ago.
