Hoses to/from plenum
Discussion
I am just putting my engine back together after 12 months, but I am finding my memory a little lacking. I know, I should have taken pictures! Under the plenum, centrally beneath the inlet, there is a 1/2" stub to connect a hose. I have no idea which hose and where it goes to! I don't seem to have any spare hoses.
I'll post a piccy tomorrow showing the location of this stub.
Anyone any ideas?

Are you on about the Trumpet Base.
any help ( although a little dark)
If not I am sure these two great rebuilds might help you
ANDY QUINNS REBUILD
DAVID HAMMERTONS REBUILD
I am sure you would find what you are after in that lot.
You got a raise a glass to'em

Thanks BB. Yes, that looks like the one - it is central in the trumpet base. On mine, a '96 500, there are three tapped holes in the base, and its the contral one I'm struggling with. The nearest one on you pic there has a blanking plug on mine, and the one furthest away connects to the breather hose that runs from flame trap to the throttle body.
Nothing on either of those two (excellent) guides - I host a version of Quinnys rebuild on http://interweb4u.com/griff500 so I'm quite familiar with that one! There is one pic which shows the connection I'm talking about:
- you can see it top right behind the water pump outlet hose and above the fuel rail.
Here it is again from the other end, 2/3 up the pic and to the left:
but still no clues as to what it connects to!

If I can work out which connector you're talking about I can probably tell you what it is supposed to be connected to. Any chance of marking up one of those pictures with an arrow or something showing which bit you're talking about? In the mean time, a complete stab in the dark, you might be talking about the circuit for the throttle body heater, which has a feed from a spigot pressed into the water jacket at the front of the manifold, and a return teed into the metal pipe which ring the heater return to the pump. The throttle body heater is normally disconnected with the small hoses to/from it either blanked off or simply connected to each other.
Cheers Peter.
If it is blanked off it would explain a lot!
Here's one I just took, apologies for the image quality, my little boy has been playing with the camera and I suspect fingers have been places they shouldn't have been! I haven't bolted the trumpet base/plenum down yet, so for this shot I just stood it up on top of the engine so you can see what I'm looking at.

Hi VM,
How come you have managed to have this much tinkering with a RV8 going on then eh.. I remember us chatting (on here about a year back) about the problems of contracting away from home coupled with kiddie arrivals (you adopted didn't you ?) and the fact that a Cerbie wasn't a practical option as the roof didn't come off
So what changed then, was it the contracting ? ..and is all well with your nipper ?
All the best,
Matt.
Oh PS.. do you mean the hose centre-top here:

Those are vacuum taps. I expect you'll find that one goes to the brake servo, one goes to the carbon cannister purge valve, and one is blanked off. You should have another, smaller, tapping at the back which is piped up to the fuel pressure regulator.

Doh! I had the trumpet base 180 degrees out. Twist it round and it makes a whole heap more sense! Two hoses coming out of the wing connect to two vacumm taps on the trumpet base. I was looking for a hose on the passenger side of the car.
Like you once said Peter, "put down the spanners and step away from the engine". What are the chances of me getting this thing screwed together and working before the London Run?
