Crashed - The Beast?
Discussion
Evening All,
Heard reports yesterday of one rather wrecked blue Griff on the back of a transporter in Newcastle. This particular blue Griff use to belong to me and still has my private plate on it. It was affectionatly named the beast by wife because of a combination of factors. Has anyone had heard anything about this? Hoping whoever was involved is okay.

Neil,
Hi, its Joe. The car has now been renamed to Sully cos its a big blue monster!!! (Monsters Inc. movie). I can confirm its alive and well and undoubtedly more gorgeous than when you last saw it as the red interior has gone!!!! Now its looking very smart in black and the new aluminium handbrake handle sets it off a treat!
Regards
Joe

Hello Joe - good to hear from you. The new name is pretty good, the interior change was a definite improvement
The performance is awesome from that car, not to mention the noise, there wasn't another Griff/Chim that I knew that could keep pace with it.
If you ever have any questions about the car that I may be able to answer then just let me know.
Neil
P.S May meet you and the car sometime as I'm moving down to Killingworth from Stirling in April.

Yep couldn't agree more on that one. The interior was 'orrid BUT your right the car is awesome (oops, I'm talking in cliche's again)!
Sure feel free to give me a shout when your back in Newcastle.
Do you know much about the history at all? Tony has a lot of the service history 'on file' but didn't know much about the 5.2 conversion. Oh, and do you know who had the bad taste in terms of the red interior? Was it Thorpe?
Cheers,
Joe

Yes it was Richard Thorpe that had the red put in, I did pull the trim back around the console at one time though and it was interesting to see that the original "red" was a lot duller (read restrained) than what it had turned to over a number of years. I called him up at Wedge automotive to have chat about the car a month or so after buying it.
If the information is correct - it may have changed in my memory over the last 2 years you see
- But I know he did the conversion and Steve Heath may have been involved too. It is possible (again if I remember correctly) that Steve had said that his "520" had some of the same work done to it that was performed on the Griff. As far as the work done is concerned, I really can't remember, but I am sure that someone on PH will be able to provide the info. Maybe even messers Thorpe/Heath?
Regards,
Neil
