I have to admit, I'm sceptical of TrafPol's motives. I've complained before, and I'll complain again, but I've this weekend has really made me feel good about those Boys and Girls in Blue.

First, the warning: Lock your back door. Even when you're in. On Friday night, my parents were at home watching East Enders (their first mistake). Mum went to the kitchen to get her mobile to make a call, only to find it missing, along with her handbag, Dad's wallet, Mum's laptop bag (which, because she only uses it to take her lunch to and from work, had no laptop and only contained four tins on tomato soup - imagine the look on Mr. Thief's face), and 2 iPods (hers and mine). Turns out, the burglar had snuck in the back door, taken everything of value off the work top, gone into the dining room and taken the bags, and snuck back out again - all while my parents were in the next room - cheeky fcensoredk!

To the infinte credit of Plod, they arrived within 15 mins of the 999 call, within an hour had arrested the culprit plus 2 others for handling. They've since recovered all our missing belongings (including the soup), taken 4 statements, and charged the tea leaf. I honestly can't say how good they've been. In constant touch the whole time, keeping us updated.

Needless to say, the "alleged" perp is a junkie, wanted for dozens of similar crimes, and now i'm told they finally have the evidence they need.

Just wanted to say thanks to them, and also to warn everyone to lock their back doors, even when you're in (we obviously have started doing this now, but it's a bit of a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted - stupid horse).

Cheers,
SN

I came home once to find my door had been forced open.
Phoned the bill, and when they finally turned up a day and a half later, they said there was nothing they could do, and perhaps I should ask around the estate and investigate if anybody had heard anything.
I asked him if he there was anything else I could do for him, like polish his boots or collect his pension, but I received no answer. hehe

Me thinks you were very lucky.
