Just wondering what the real world difference, with road driving is, when replacing the standard Tuscan 2 S dampers with either Nitrons or Ohlins.

Considering upgrading and would value your opinions and experience.

Thanks

Surely your dampers/springs are relatively new Bilsteins - unless you're a great trackday fan you should just stick with the standard set up for now - unless they are causing you serious grief.

I don't think Tuscan 2 S has Bilsteins?

I think they are only on the Sagaris?

Tuscan convertibles & 2006 Targas have the Bilstein set up & they are very good. I had Nitrons on my 2000 MK1 Tuscan as the OE set up was quiet poor & the Nitrons made a huge improvement, don’t think there would be such an improvement on the MK2.

My standard 2005 Tuscan 2 came with the Bilstein dampers. I found them to be unstable when cornering on a bumpy road and changed them for Nitrons within 2 months.

I've sold a couple of kits to guys who were struggling with very hard rides, no doubt that most of the after market kits would make a difference.

The 2S has nondescript factory mounts: I replaced mine with 2-way adjustable Ohlins and have a completely different car as a result: on track the balance is much better, both in the bendy bits and under braking; on the highway, the car is smoother and on uneven road surfaces the handling is night and day. The guys at www.aurok.com really know what they are doing and I couldn't conceive of going back to the factory setup. They give a complete setup service including adjustments for different loads and uses

I've found handling with the Nitrons to be superb. I may be lucky, but having been sceptical for the first week that I had them, ever since I've been thrilled by the difference.

Agreed. I had Nirons put on my 2000 Mk1. Amazing difference. Make sure you have it all set up by someone who knows Tuscans and include corner weighting. It was the best money i ever spent on my car...

They are 2-way adjustables and came in just shy of £2K. If you go for the one-ways it is about £3-400 less. While you are at it you might consider Steve Heath's rose-mounted droplinks on the front rollbar: they sharpen up handling considerably. Have fun
