Is it possible to see who phoned?
A scenario, someone phones and their number is showing in the LCD on the handset. As you go to answer it they ring off. Intrigued you don't recognise the number and wonder who it is.
Somewhere there must be a website you can plug the number in to and perhaps find out who it is?

why not try ringing it to see who answers?

Seems too obvious but maybe you have reasons to not want to do this. Block your CLI first to make sure they don't see your number.

Edited to add dial 141 then the number to do this.

or search for the number in Google - that often works.

You can search for the STD code on BT, or similar, I think? (try "Googling" STD code at your own peril )

No reason for not phoning back actually, could do that I suppose and when they answer just ask them what they want. Wouldn't want to scare an old biddie though who had just got the wrong number.
I'll try the STD search - cheers chaps.

Edited to add a mention of war - that is the protocol now isn't it?

Don't mention the war! I did once, but I think I got away with it!

Edited to add - if you type the STD code into www.streetmap.co.uk it will give you the rough area.

Cheers guys, I did a Google search and it turns out was some caravan park on the Isle of Wight. Don't think I'll be ringing them back!
