Panicked for a minute there!

Picture the scene, heavy rain, heading to Heathrow...
Heading towards the M4 on a dual carrigeway, outside lane - coasting towards a set of lights on red in traffic...
Suddenly the check engine light comes on - followed by the rest of the billion or so warning lights. My stomach does a high dive towards my feet and my anus turns into a black hole, to which my rapidly falling stomach feels like its been drawn to the singularity...
Its one of those moments where time appears to slow - and amongst the Vegas strip that was once my dashboard i notice the rev counter is flat, I take a risk and twist the key, the engine bursting back into life, and the lights have gone green, so I slide it into second and get moving...
All seems okay, but I'm a minute from the M4 - and I'm terrified a digital counter has appear on top of the engine and is rapidly counting down to 0, I fear the worst, do I turn around and head home for the backup and risk missing the flight, or press on, hoping the combustion stays internal to the engine.
I take the latter risk, watching the dials like a hawk, which probably isnt wise considering the amount of rain and spray.
But she made it fine, proving my paranioa wrong...
however, my question is, i dont know whether she was in 6th or neutral when she was coasting - but surely if it was the former then the rear wheels should have locked? no? and if it was the latter, well it shouldnt have stalled?

you stalled it. if its broken all the lights wouldnt have come on, just the relevant one. either that or youve single handedly managed to break everything on the car, all at the same exact moment.
rest easy chum.

yeah, I figured I had stalled it - I was just wondering how i managed that feat at 50mph while coasting in neutral...
Or do I just have a really unique talent when it comes to driving skills?
Coasting in neutral at 50 mph in the rain eh? Best you don't tell them over on the advanced driving forum
The engine management should shut fuel off to the injectors on an in-gear deceleration so perhaps it got confused (foot gently on brake or clutch?) and thought you were in gear, hence the stall.
