Vibrating under braking

Hi all, just had the wheels balanced as part of service, as i had a bit of vibration at motorway speeds, this seems to have cured this prob.
I now have a slight vibration under braking, would a dodgy shock absorber cause this? As the mot inspector said i had a slight leak on one of the front ones.

Sounds like warped disc to me.
Sounds more like a build up of material on the disks try giving them some pain to burn it of and do a search for warped discs or look in my profile as i had the same problem and wouldent have belived it until i tryed it and i was a mechanic for 5 years.

I had this quite severely under moderate braking. Soft no problem and hard no problem. Search the old threads but I was ready to book it in and then went for the free option. Can't remember who is claiming it as theirs (if anyone) but emergency brake from 30ish, then from 60ish, to clean off the discs.

Yep few good hard brakes from about 60. Annoyingly I only discovered this after replacing one set of front discs; problem came back after few weeks so I dug deeper and found out about the deposits build up. Just try not to sit with foot on pedal in traffic now, especially if brakes are likely to be hot, and it hasn't come back yet. Not that I couldn't just do the same again of course if it did.
Check the surface where the disc rests against- it should be immaculate. Many brake discs and the surface they bear on suffer small amounts of corrosion here where everything is hidden away. This can cause runout- leading to vibration.
Keeping your foot on the brake pedal after say coming down a steep hill and stopping at traffic lights can cause warping too. The heat in the discs is "drawn" out by the pad, but obviously this only occurs where the pad is touching. The disc gets cooler at that spot than it is everywhere else... not good for true running discs. Use the handbrake!
