Hi all I've been using AVG free edition quite happily for 3 or 4 years now and trust it implicitly . now got the message they are stopping the free updates . any sugestions where I should go next or have I got to pay up for continuation of service . I don't fancy the usual suspects, Mc afee / norton etc, as these are the ones the scallies of the world target.
any help would be greatly apreciated

It seems the way GriSoft phrased the message has confused people somewhat, as what they meant is that the free version of 7.1 will no longer be available, but if you upgrade to 7.5 all will be fine.

They're just stopping free updates for your version (7.1). The new version, 7.5, is out and can be downloaded from their site

I suspected that may be the case as it has happened before , and they word it like that so that Baldricks like me stumble into paying for the latest version , cunning plan now foiled
