I have tried every company on the list of previous companies who have given good quotes for Chim insurance but the quotes I have been given are either extortionate or they won't cover me! I'm 27, have got a Chim 500 which is my main car which is kept on my driveway and I do about 5k a year & have 9 years no claims. Can anyone recommend any other companies to try? So far Tesco's are the best by far but it's still a lot of money!

I guess you tried A-Plan? They seem very competitive at the moment.

I'm presuming you've tried A-Plan then? They were best for me.
As you only do 5k PA have you tried Hagerty? They do classic insurance and 5k is the max mileage they cover. A number of PHers have had some very cheap quotes with them....

Odd suggestions maybe but have you tried Elepahnt or Diamond?

they both seem to like lady drivers. I am of course assumng you are female from you screen name, if your parents had a unusual sense of humour when naming you I apologise

I'm almost your age and I insured my 500 for 10,000 miles a year (inc Europe) with A-Plan for about £650.

Have you tried all of these?

I have tried all the companies from the list but no one can beat my Tesco's quote! I was with Diamond a few years back before I had a sports car so they might be worth a try again as yes I am a girl. Any other ideas?

Another 2 to try that were competitive for me are MSM - 01279 870535 & Chris Knott - 01580 752961

Racking my brains, now who am I insured with now ? I think its heritage but cant be sure, have to check my policy when I get home. they were £200 a year cheaper than anyone else. And I tried every single company in Sprint and a few more besides !

Try Norwich Union Direct. I think I paid £960 keeping the car in a public car park in Central London.

If you have two cars and only do 5000 miles a year in the Chim then insure it as a second car through Hagerty.
They are a superb friendly bunch who love TVR's.
Its possible it could work out cheaper to insure two cars than just the chim.
Hope this helps you out.
Im 28 and my insurance on the Chim is cheap! hehe

are we talking LOT of money or just quite a bit.. ? I was insuring my first Chim at 27 for about £500, and am insuring my current one with A Plan for about the same.. If you only do 5k a year, have you tried a Limited Mileage policy from Adrian Flux..?

Cheers
Matt

Are you a member of the TVRCC?

Mannings have always been very reasonably priced for me.

It would be interesting to know how much your premiums would be if you garaged the car, perhaps that could be the answer.

Mannings great for me but a garage is the key.

Directline/Tescos/Privilege were the cheapest for me a few years ago (aged 26-ish at the time)...now 30 with a not-quite-so-impeccable license and they are still there or thereabouts, as are Admiral.

I do more than 5k so the classic/limited mileage boys are no good for me...

How much are your quotes?
