Hi there everyone! I've checked out the forums here many times before but felt it was finally time to join as I need opinions on this topic!

My old man is lucky enough to have a 997 Turbo on order and he is very undecided regarding the colour he should go for. His head says arctic silver but his heart is leaning towards guards red! I'm sure many of you here will appreciate the benefits and drawbacks of each colour and see why it is a hard choice but if YOU were ordering a Turbo, would you stick with safe and solid silver or opt for a more individual/fun but maybe less classy guards red??

He has already chosen black as the interior colour with red stitching everywhere so that should go nicely with either option...

Thanks for you're input in advance guys! thumbup

White certainly seems to be the in colour at the moment. Looks good on all the Porsche's I've seen. Not sure wouldn't eventually tire of white though !
Never had a white car. Would imagine any small scratches don't show but are they a pain to keep clean?

I would imagine so... but any more of a pain than a black car?
The only good thing about silver is they look clean even when they are dirty

Silver always looks good on the 911 and is safe if you are thinking of moving on in the near future, particularly through the Dealer. Red is stunning and is not often seen on the newer 996/997 generation cars.

Have you checked out Cobalt Blue, it looks absolutely stunning on the new 997TT. thumbup

Good luck in your decision.

shout WHITE IS GOING TO BE THE NEW SILVER!!

I agree Porsches have always looked good in white. One of the reasons white looks so good now is that it's not been around in any sort of numbers since the mid to late '90's.
Everyone got cheesed off with white being soooo common that it disappeared off the road as far as new cars where concerned.

Its now on its way back and i can see it being a common colour again within the next five years.
You never know - silver may be rare in 5 to 10 years time, although it is a timeless and classy colour!

the 997TT is a fussy detailed in car IMHO - I would go dark to hide some of this ie black or meteor or dark blue

silver or white are a no-no for me so red given those choices

Silver's not that bad - honest!!! My 997S was in Cobalt and did look stunning - but seemed to chip ever so easily - the grey primer didn't help showing the blemishes either
Black just 'blobs' the car into one shape. Problem is that the current 'standard/metallic' range of colours is really conservative. Just look at Astons or Massers range - far more inspired.

Shame you can't buy a 997TT with GT3 Styling. The TT looks good but the GT3 looks sooooo much better IMO. bow

Couldn't agree more. Let's hope the GT2 looks better.

confused But then it would be a GT3!? The whole point surely of having different styling features between the GT3 and TT is to differentiate between the two models.
Otherwise the TT would basically be a GT3 Turbo!!

Black one's a bit too subtle. If you're going to have a lairy car, might as well have it in a lairy colour.

Eh, DanH? Nice to meet you this morning
