Off to NY for Christmas and tempted to pick up a 70-200 F4L from B&H in Manhattan...

Will there be any issues bringing it back? or if it needs a warranty claim in the UK?

thanx

if they supply you with an international warranty card you won't have an issue.

the best thing to do is stuff the lens in your cam bag without the box etc - flat pack it and mail it back to yourself.

worst case on re-entering the UK is they'll bum you for some tax.

Also I think you may need to be aware of the B&H policy on use of non-US credit cards - might be easiest if you pay cash, and as has been said, post the box and receipt back to yourself, carry the lens in with your other camera kit.

nono Mail it back to a friend! Colleague of mine came back from Hong Kong one bag heavier than when he went out. Customs let him straight through. 2 weeks later they turned up at his door with 6 or 7 packages that he had shipped to himself from hong kong, asking for lots of money.

THEY DO CHECK!!!!

a lens in a bag vs a whole bag full of kit is a bit different though...
surely if you mail it back, it may get stopped on the way?

I'm talking about post the box etc back - not the lens itself.

Tony - good plan!

Cheers for the help guys. I doubt the CC issue will effect me, I intend to pay using a LARGE AMOUNT OF CASH.

As for the box issue, is it not just a case of strolling down the green lane? do airports even have people on the red lane these days? never seen any myself...

some people keep them - adds to resale value.
