Hi out there. Are there any people that remember the blistering summer nights along Chelsea Bridge until 3am in the morning. What a shame it was all rubished by a few old bill moving everyone on. I cant help thinking that it was never the police that stopped the cruise but the people who simply gave in, and stopped turning up. Is there anyone else out there that feels the same, or perhaps feels the need for a chelsea reunited?

Yeah, I remember, if you mean the long running Yank night the last Saturday of the Month? was there most weekends from 1989 onwards, it was still going strong then! shame is I didn't have a suitible car to join in with at that time... and when I did get my ride of dreams it was all over...

...but don't worry, it's started up again and is getting stronger by the month, the lads from the Mopar Muscle Association (MMA) seem to be making a good go of it... Here's a link to some shots from the last Chelsea Cruise, Chelsea Cruise Saturday 28th October

Oh yes indeed sir, remember going to some cracking Chelsea cruises around 1978 - 1980 ish, was a callow youth in a MK 2 Cortina at the time, but fondly remember what a grin it was, parking up on Chelsea bridge or on the petrol station forecourt at the Battersea Park end, and watching countless burnouts of some very heavy duty American muscle! remember the Harris Mob, whole family who all drove yank V8 powered Zephyrs and Zodiacs hotrods that were real crowd pleasers. Most memorable thing I ever saw there was a small block ford powered ford Pop doing a smoking tyre power start with its front wheels a good couple of feet off the ground!
another thing thing that sticks in my memory is the sight and sound of a manual big block dodge super bee racing someone down trinity way in the small hours, ah those were the days!

Hi there, thank you for your reply. I was begining to feel that I was a dying breed. It would be fantastic or at the very least nostalgic to be part of a night run. What would be the best event to atted to get to meet some of your like minded pertol foots?

I think there is a Cruise in to Chelsea from the Ace Cafe the last Saturday of every month, check out American classic Magazine, I'm sure that lists it...

As for what other meets, I don't keep up with it that much, but theres is always plenty going on in here and buy the sounds of it from this thread a closet Chelsea Cruise contingent too

Yep, there is a meet at the ace from late afternoon that then rolls down to chelsea, last sat of the month,
Also hot rod night at the ace 1st wednesday of month is worth a visit, (very quiet now tho, massive turnout in the summer)

That particular GTO 'judge' is a serious car, had a good look at billing show this summer. Huge Baer brake conversion, 20" wheels, loads of suspension mods. Big Block too I think..!

I, along with a few friend restarted The Chelsea Cruise in September 2004, It is still the last Saturday of the month 8pm Chelsea Bridge, because of the weather in the winter months we only have about 30 cars turn up, but in the summer it gets packed, Some summer nights we are still there until 1-2am Sunday morning.

I started going to thr cruise when it started the first time around in the 70s, I doubt if it will ever get as big as it was in the 70s & 80s but we can only try, the more people that make the effort the better it will be.

See my web site at www.chelseacruise.co.uk

Sorry but it has not been updated for a while

I used to visit the Chelsea cruise in the mid 90's, although the max power element was starting to creep in.

I found it an entertaining night and always a very wide selection of cars to look at/watch.
