Well with the recent discussions over accident & wet weather how about this as I ‘smacked my bitch up’ earlier today in a multi-storey airport car park, no not the HSV but the smart, spend about 20 mins circling to find a space and was getting ever more impatient trying to find a space. Basically entered a lane, applied too much gas, turbo picked up & span it 360 degrees glancing of a metal cladded wall, did not hit any parked cars thank gawd, (damaged the wall cladding nicely) now need new panels at front end & possibly new suspension, doubt if I hit 20 mph too, once the turbo is spooled up releasing the throttle does not mean an instantaneous ‘off power’. Moral of the storey accidents do happen regardless of attributing blame, I feel a complete numpty having driven smarts with doubled power outputs for 6 years to finally get caught out, only real damage is to my ego as metal & plastic can be replaced.

Not looking for sympathy just thought I would share it with you all.

not so SMART after all eh Will??

Good boy racer story though for the grandkids...

"I remember the day when your Grandad spun out of control in a 600cc car - it was scary"

It'll be appropriate when in year 2020 6.0l will be rare as rockin horse shite & 600cc will be the V8 de jour!

Spinning Smart in car park-priceless stuff!!!

You really should go and get the CCTV footage and put it on Youtube else no one will believe you!!

Talking of CCTV-you might get a bill in the post for damage to the carpark....

That takes the biscuit - i am not going to pass comment other than to say it takes a special something to 360 spin a smart in a multistory carpark

wife drives v8
husband drives 700cc

something does not compute here

Bad news though how you managed a 360 is beyond me, mines never so much as tried to do anything naughty.

bad luck fella

if they did I'd consider it, the bloody standard ones are an on/off switch that makes the car from moving to wham braking hehe, thats with drums on the back. Quite an entertaining little car!

It's fitted with Tarox 6-pot calipers & vented discs, what I needed was a clutch to disengage the 1.2 bar of boost spooled up!

If you had 125 bhp & over 100 ft-lb at the rear wheels in your smart it might respond a little different. I leave the HSV at home for the daily commute as the smart is quicker in traffic & Mrs V8HSV cannot drive it as she has an auto licence only, sad is it not.

bad luck maybe but I stand by being a muppet as I should have known better!

will's 360ing smart co-pilot signing in

having been at daft speeds in his HSV, 10-20 mph, while 360ing in a multistory is, well, different... silly

sooo lucky we went to the right and not the left! cladded walls are softer than cars...

I did a similar thing on a roundabout in my first Monaro (the spinning that is). The worst part was the screaming from the mrs next to me. I was quite enjoying it up until then. Then we slammed into a kerb/crash barrier. I can tell you that in a 2-week old car, a lot more than just my pride was dented. Oh well.
