Is it a conspiracy?
Discussion
Have been getting myself moist with anticipation with the plan of getting myself a beloved Tusc in the next month or so, only to have someone go into the back of my Z4 (which I was preparing for sale - serviced, tidyed up etc.), which then thrust me into the car in front, which was thrust into the car in front, then thrust into...
Very nice lady from the driver's-at-fault insurance company rang me up to offer me her condolences, arrange for an equivalent car to hire to replace mine, offer me assistance for claiming for personal injury - very nice, but very strange as this was on behalf of the insurance company that would have to pay out!
Get another call this morning from same nice lady, to say that after some investigation the driver-at-fault was not insured.
Cannot help any further.
My insurance company say, leave it to them to chase the responsibility to repair my car (assuming it is not a write-off), but it is up to me to arrange and pay for car hire, which they will use my legal cover to attempt to claim back costs (well considering that he was driving an N reg Mondeo, I think the insurance companies predicted collective £30k of repair costs might jump the queue) - plus also advised to get a cheap rental car so that the driver-at-fault cannot claim that the costs are unfair and unreasonable! Do they think I am going to drive a Punto 80 miles a day when this is non of my making?!
Oh, and BMW (who I want to conduct the repair - not one of the insurance company's 'preferred' body-shops, can possibly offer me a hire car from 18th December!
Not sure what I am aiming to get from this post other than sharing my frustrations on the PH couch and come to terms with having to stop counting down the days to TVR day.

Hi V8Cerbera
Thanks for your condolences!
I think I have a weak argument as they were working on behalf of their client, the driver-at-fault's insurance company, and not retained by me.
They had to stop offering me their services once suspicion arose that the car may not be legitimately insured.
Kinda hoping that the car is a write off - then cheque in 14 days - and here comes Tiv. Let's all pray!

One of my employee`s was involved in a similar situation, both his cars were written off outside his house by a drunken, speeding, reckless, uninsured, pikey, he got paid out on both vehicles from the insurance fund, in a very short time, and he got more for one vehicle than it was worth
.
The pikey he got
all
typical

Mine's being repaired at the moment, and they offered me A Corsa, eventually A Vectra.
I contacted Steve @ www.europaconsultants.co.uk/
And he talked them in to lending me a Merc.
Give him a call, he may be able to help.
He's in the "contact us" part of the site.

I shudder to think of the true percentage of uninsured drivers on our roads!!!
Must be in the hundreds of thousands......
Supes.
edited: I was in court 2 months ago and there were at least four peeps being fined for such an offence.

I looked the other week at my local court cases in the daily paper, average fine for no insurance was £125.00.
