Having to to work this morning, I pressed my boot release button, and nothing!
When I say nothing, I mean that I hear a click from the relay and also from the boot release (I'm pretty sure), but the boot stays firmly shut.
According to one of the postings, this problem's covered on page 255 of the bible, but my bible's at home. I've read on another posting from Pete Humphries that there's a manual override but the exact details weren't posted (for obvious reasons).
I'm just going to go back down and have another tinker, but I wanted to post on here ASAP to see if anyone can tell me where the manual release is, or provide any other ideas.
Thanks in anticipation.
Richard
P.S. My laptop and my roof are stuck in the boot, so I can't do much work, and I'm just praying it doesn't start to rain!

where are you in the country ? if your near west london / M3 / M25 I can help.

I got details of the emergency release mechanism from Schnozz and Peter Humphries, but when I tried to locate it, it seems to be missing - this has brought me out in a cold sweat!
I'm just going to have another crack, but I'm not holding out much hope, so I'm hoping that someone may be able to suggest another plan of attack.
Incidentally, I'm based in the Bracknell/Wokingham area.
Cheers,
Richard
Yes, I'd definitely recommend that!

Thinking about it, I reckon I may have knocked the catch with one of the roof lugs when I was putting it in the boot. Didn't think much of it at the time, but I'm wondering whether I might of knocked the catch out of alignment or something. Not sure how feasible that is without being able to take a look at the catch, but that could account for the fact that I still seem to be hearing the click from the boot.
the roof panels quite often wedge against the arm to open the boot and stop it going up. Especially if you have the spare wheel in the boot (which means the roof panels are very close to the rod) and if, like me, you rarely put the leather covers on so the rubber is exposed and obviously has more friction that theh leather cover.
there is a fuse that you should be audible when you press the boot release button. try "lowering" the fuses in the passenger footwell and make sure you get the click when you press the button. if not, you know its electrical (check that fuse). If it does, you know that its the actually rod and a bit of playing around at that end is required..

I have tried generally arsing about with the bootlid to no avail, although I'm going to have another crack at that shortly (in my desperation!).
When I push the button, I hear a relay-type click from the passenger footwell, plus the appropriate click from the boot.
I'm getting to the point where I think I may have to take a hammer to the offside light in order to get in the boot, and then get a replacement light from a scrappy. I most definitely don't want to do this, but if I can't get the catch to release, I can't think of any other way to get a big enough opening into the boot to get at the catch from the inside!

That would suggest that the electrics are OK... but something is causing grief... perhaps the roof panels?
Before you beat the living daylights out of something... is it worth taking the car for a quick run around a roundabout...? - the idea being that with sufficient forces... the panels might slide / move to the passenger side of the boot...?

As long as the block goes around to the left

Also, when I push down on the bootlid above the catch there is movement in it (not just the flex of the GRP), which leads me to believe it might be caused by the catch not releasing sufficiently to let the boot go. If I grip the edge of the bootlid and pull up while someone else presses the release, there's just no budge in it at all.
The only other possible approach I can think of is to try and introduce some body flex by jacking the car up at the appropriate point, and seeing if that helps release it, although I'm not entirely sure where the best place would be to apply the jack.
