Wiring in a battery optimiser

Any suggestion for the best point to wire in a connection for the battery optimiser ?

I dont really want to use the cigar lighter socket as i want to be able to lock the car.

I thought about straight onto the battery, but was concerned about heat on the wiring under the bonnet - plus it means opening and closing the bonnet to connect.

Any tips ?

I did indeed...

Positive wire is run directly to the battery and the negative i screwed to the chassis with a self tapper.
I also cut the little locking lug off the 2 way in line plug after i reversed out of the garage dragging my charger across the floor.

I was originally gonna site the socket under the wheel arch or in the nose. But thought it'd get seriously filthy. Anyway, i wanted it more accessible.

Thanks - i think i might go for the hidden version - but i like the idea of the weatherproof connector.

On an unrelated note - why do AJP8 engines sound a lot like a motorbike engine ? is it something about the design ? I've noticed when pulling away from standing it sounds very similar to big jap sports bike ( my dads had a few ).

something to do with it having a flat plane crank i think?

I'd say it sounds more like 2 big bike engines bolted together but only when hot........ When cold they sound like 2 Astra diesel engines.

It's exactly that. a Flat plane crank V8 is basically 2 four cylinder engines bolted together, thats why it doesnt have that classic V8 rumble.

I use mine via the lighter socket. You can still lock the car easily as the wire simply fits between the rubber and the window 2/3rds way up the door.
