I started up the new engine again last week after finally getting the correct gaskets. I've still been having problems with the mapping software which nobody including the Holley tech-line could shed any light on. I tried my spare ECU, new software and a different laptop but the problem still existed. That was until this morning when trying a few things, I had a 'Eureka' moment. All it turned out to be was that the software can only support one window. I always had a few open at once. If I opened the fuel map on its own all was well. If I tried to open the spark map at the same time it all went wrong. So back on track now!

I'm off work for a few days, so hope to get some mapping done before I take the car to the local rolling road. I still have a few jobs to do on the car before its first MOT. I hope to have the car back on the road in a few weeks. I am going to make a new induction tube from the supercharger to the chargecooler which will be in one piece.

Here are a few pics.

Hi Dave, looking very nice. I guess I will see you a Stoneleigh 2007 then...

What is that red G clamp shaped thing on the top of your engine - something for the throttle linkage or what?

Hi Phil

Yes the red bracket is a CSR Billet throttle bracket. I still have to connect up the throttle cable. I might yet need a longer cable but the one on will do for now.

I hope to get to lots of shows next year including Stoneleigh.

Yeh! Yeh! very funny guyslaugh. It would be nice to get rid of the dizzy, and maybe in the future I will, but it says for now! The problem is I would have to make a bespoke trigger wheel due to the supercharger crank pulley and its alignment to the supercharger itself. Its taken long enough to get this far. The dizzy is electronic and the timing is totally contolled by the ECU.

Only pulling your leg. I ran a locked-out megasquirt controlled HEI for nearly two years, just recently changed it out for EDIS8.

Hi Andy

I've only taken the engine up to 3000rpm so far just sitting on the drive and it sounds like a screaming banshee. God alone knows what it will sound like at 6500rpm under full load, but I'm looking forward to that day. I must move that air filter down or cut a big hole in the rear clip. That car of yours seems to be coming along well. I look forward to seeing the end result.

No worries mate! I read about your ESIS8 upgrade on your website, looks good. My upgrade to coil packs will probably take about the same length of time. I just want to get the car on the road now and have some fun.

On my EFI conversion I went straight to EDIS 8 as I wanted to get rid of the Dizzy ASAP. But if I had kept it I would have had one less item to be concerned about. As it is I have a slight miss-fire past 6000RPM and my tacho also starts to drop out, which is now driven from the EDIS8. The only trouble with using the EDIS unit is that it is very hard to find out "the what happens if?" type of questions.

Given the stanalone nature of EDIS, the only part that that could fail and proove difficult to locate quickly was the EDIS8 module itself so I got a spare one - only cost £32 plus vat. I will leave it in the car. Ive also got a spare megasquirt which i used to carry around with me also, but that sits indoors gathering dust.
