I recently sold my Chimaera 500 which was my third TVR, having had some years ago a Chimaera 400 and a Griff 500. I did a princely 1700 miles in 20 months and she never missed a beat. Clearly then the car didn't get the use it deserved. Also I thought that I 'had grown up 
' and wanted a more up to date car. Eventually, I got pissed of with the whole 'should I stay or should I go' thing and sold her..... and every day since I sold, I have 'half' regretted it.
Recently I was on the verge of buying a loads-a-money 911, and Mr Finance made it a very attractive proposition, but had to bottle and then I concluded this: there is nothing, NOTHING that fills you with passion like the TVR. And for me, no TVR does it more than the Griffith 500. I love TVR's.
I have spent a few evenings with goose bumps watching with sound turned up, Griffith's racing on road and track on 'youtube.com'. And now I 'half' want back in. I have even contacted somone who's selling privately on PH, and tomorrow I may go an see his 500.
Head tells me that I shouldn't buy another TVR. It's a pain to move the other cars out of the way to get it out of the garage, the wife will still hate it, will be scared of it, the family can't all fit in it, I will not have time to drive it, and in a year's time if she isn't getting used I'll begrudge having that money tied up when it's sat there most of the time.
Heart tells me to go for it; you're only young once. Live for the now; man maths tells me a decent Griff doesn't cost much. Should I have a 'Nike' moment (Just do it)?

At the current prices, there is just no hesitation to have!!
that's more the sellers who should think about not selling, for buyer it has never been so good!
Currently 8 griffith 500 under 12.000 pounds in the classifieds, the most recent being a...1999 car!!
For sure they are certainly not all good, but in any range of price there are bargain around.
I made trip to UK last week-end to see 5 cars, I kept 2 on my list, and will decide this monday, depending if one of the 2 seller accept my offer i take his or the other one.

I was in the same boat as you a few months ago, Brin. Having had two TVR's in the past and faced with an empty garage. Thing is, it is not a decision you can make with your head, at the end of the day you don't 'need' to have one, you 'want' to have one, and to me that is what TVR's are all about!
I went for it and bought a Griff 500, still don't use it as much as I think it deserves, and still don't technically need it, but I LOVE IT! Sometimes, you just have to do a Ferris Bueller!

Your post has convinced me to try and keep my Griff - not getting used much, second child on the way, wife hates it, but I know I will regret selling it - especially when I just drove it into work this morning with the roof down, heater on and clear blue skies - no other drive would start my Tuesday better!!

Wife's can change their minds! It's our prerogative. Hubby had a 390SE and sold it last year. I absolutely hated it, I only went in it twice in the 5 years that he had it. It was the noise more than anything, it always sounded like we were going too fast, and I'm a nervous passenger at the best of times.
Then like you as soon as he sold it, the following summer came and he started again about getting another TVR. After all the debating on PH, he got a 4.3 Griff variety, and decided to go to the BT&P do on Saturday, I had to face my fears and be a passenger for the hour and a half drive, I had been praying for rain, so we could drive in the disco, but no, it was a glorious day.
I can't beleive how calm I was, even though I noticed the needle at one point was hitting 100MPH.
I thoroughly enjoyed the drive, but declined hubby's offer of having a go at driving on the motorway, ten minutes round Sainsbury's car park when closed is enough for the time being, but who knows in the future I may drive it around.
