Should be Sports Personality of the Year candidate IMHO. Do we think he'll even get a mention though?

clap Andy. Master of Macau.

On a side note I've just watched the race repeat on Eurosport 2. I made sure I didn't know the result in advance so I could enjoy it to the end and what do they do? They scroll the results across the bottom of the screen whilst it was still on lap one of race one. Bloody Morons! rage You can't help but notice it. Why do they do it?

That is pity. I managed to stay up and watch it live and the second race was real edge of the seat stuff.

Yes, very annoying. I watched the replay as well but I had learned my lesson after reading the result of the GP2 championship whilst watching the replay of that, so I taped a newspaper across the bottom of the screen this time.

Recorded the live showing of the race, so no problems with spoilers

Was Indy Car a world championship in 1993? I didn't think so.

It did include the race out to Oz IIRC.

i wracked my brains to think of another UK driver to have one more than one world title, completely forgot about sportscars and D Bell.

doesn't happen often though does it ( Uk drivers winning 2 plus champs), fogarty might be the exception in the wider scheme of things.

love to know why, our drivers mainly seem to stop at one.... is it the old british thing, of ' that'll do ' cba anymore?

Quick bit of Googling shows that you are correct: the 1993 championship included a race in Surfer's Paradise. The championship was called the CART World Series. Whether you could call it a world championship is still debatable IMO.

mansell considerd it his second world title, but i am not sure the fia do, so i think its a bit much to consider it a world championship IMHO.

i think the world titles are limited to

wrc,
f1
moto gp
superbikes
wtcc

and in the old days sportscars

but then again there is always a1gp.rolleyes

Although it seems all the races are in Europe so that's debatable too.
