** Urgent ** Griff fan belt

My girlfrind is stuck with the griff just north of leicester.

From what she describes sounds like the alternator pulley has cracked and thrown the belt down the road.

Does that belt drive the water pump also ? If not, I guess she can safely drive it until the battery dies ?

Yes it does,unless you have a pre-serp with a/c,and the belt you've lost is the one which doesn't turn the pump!

I found a picture of the engine also and it does indeed drive the water pump. AA man on his way.

It could be the pulley bearing thats gone - which means that if you fit a new belt the same thing will happen again so best get it checked.

I had the same problem, we couldnt work out why the belt kept coming off - good news is its not very expensive to fix.
