I wonder who built my car?

Doing a bit of maintenance on the electric windows today and I had the door card off for the first time. Dated and signed at the back. Was 'RG?' the trimmer of my car?
Interesting date considering the car was first registered 12 days later!

Aye, it's quite common to find initials and signatures on the back of panels. My car is signed and dated under the nose (about where the TVR badge is, but on the inside) by the three guys who laid up the shell in '87.

'Frank' made the door panels for my 350 and I was amazed to find he also made the ones on my 400, Frank must have been the 'door panel man' 85 - 91 It would be great to meet hin, maybe he will be at LT2006

Mine was signed on the rear bulkhead as I found out when I replaced the carpets. Unfortunately I didn't make a note of who signed it!

When I pealed off the targa cover on the roof section there it was covered with noughts & crosses!

When my SEAC was rebuilt they found a message hidden under the carpeting.
It was sufficiently rude that they refused to tell me what it said or exactly where it is written.

It was ordered by a local footballer 'known' to the factory - so I can guess they didn't hold back - LOL

My '87 280i also is signed on the back side of the door panel with the date and color of the upholstery.
And I have several parts pieces that have 'Yank' marked on them indicating they were for sale in the USA.

Ive got two sets of dates in my door cars, the date they were first covered and the second date is when they were recovered with it change of colour, when i remove the cards soon ill talk some pics.

mine had a big number 3 then the the numbers 555 with the last number then changed to a 6 so it read 556 then in big leters show to tell the work force it was being made for the 91 motorshow
question has anyone got vin no 555 the car the shell was going to be fitted to but then fitted to mine 556?
