I'm looking to move on up from my car to a 996 GT3.

I've spotted a few Clubsport Mk2's without Aircon. £15k to fit I've reliably been told.

Now it's not a problem for myself as where I live it's cold as hell and this will purely be a second road/track car.

So no aircon on a GT3 a problem? 964 RS's dont seem to have that either and no issue there!

If you can live without it, then great, as it will save about 25KG off the arse end iirc.

I couldn't live withough it in the summer in this country, let alone long distance jaunts to Spa and the ring...

I know somebody who has had it retro fitted, and i'm sure it would be a lot less that £15k....

If you do buy a no A/C car, make sure you get a bargain, as i reckon you will get raped when you
try to sell on....

Most buyers will prefer an A/C car so I'd be looking for any without to be priced accordingly

I've only seen very few Mk2's without A/C. Are you considering the one at Performance Time? I wondered why it was so cheap, then noticed the lack of A/C.

P.S. I'm also in Scotland and considering selling my Mk2....It has A/C.

I'd say its essential - I tried tracking without it on a couple of times and it gets mighty hot and uncomfortable in there without it, and you'll have a snowballs chance in hell of selling it at a decent price afterwards.

No A/Con . Buy the car for yourself, if its a good car they will always sell.

Colour, miles , ownership, most important cond.

I couldn't live without my aircon in my (black) Mk1 GT3. Even if you can, you will have far fewer potential buyers for your car in a couple of years when you try to sell it without aircon. Worth 25 kgs I would say.

£5k to fit genuine aircon from those guys!!! better than the OPC £15k!

Could make it a viable option..........

Unless someone has a GT3 with AC

If your looking for one as a track toy, you'll really want a clubsport, and probably one with adjustable suspension...

Have you looked at this one: www.pistonheads.com/sales/113532.htm ?

Non aircon is an issue in GT3's.
In RS's its seems less of a problem as more RS buyers went for that spec. Personly i walked from 3 when i was looking because I wanted Aircon if I wanted a light track only car I would buy one of the many cheep early cup cars out there.

Steve,

There was a Yellow GT3 mk 2 at Kenny Dunn's in Edinburgh when I was in. No idea on deals as I was looking at a proper lightweight the 964RS.

Just had a look on his site and not on! I've emailed though.

He does have good cars but they tend to be quite highly priced!

I have never needed A/C at KH and I have been going for 15years! Just wind the windows down like they used to do in the good old days! :O) What it has electric windows too!

That would be a good theory if you were allowed to have open windows on UK trackdays, which you are not..........
