What a waste of my life, I've just spent ages carefully putting in my new electronic windscreen ariel to find it's ruddy useless!!!!
Any tips for a good ariel? I'm currently tempted to stick a bee-sting thing on the roof I'm so mad.
It took me less time to re mount the diff on sunday than it has to fit this useless thing!!!! ARGGHH!!!!

I've got a Windscreen, 12v powered thingy from Halfrauds.
It's great
Picks up better signals than any other standard aerial in any other cars that have been lurking on the drive.
Albeit this isn't in a TVR, but surely the concept should be the same?

Small box of trcks attached. The daft thing is the LED on it lights up when I attach the 12V lead but when the earth is not! Daft.
If I disconnect the adapter to the headunit aerial socket I loose all signal.
I re-attach that I get signal back (but only the local station)
When I attach either of the car or new screen aerial the signal does not improve at all.

That's what I did. Works a treat, you have to run an earth wire from the body connection of the aerial to a close by chassis point too.
The trouble with 'active' or 'powered' aerials is that they amplify everything they receive, including interference, alternator whine, CPU noise etc the same as the signal you're trying to receive. So the signal to noise ratio is no better than without an active aerial.

That's similar to what I did. Have a search for my old posts.
I tried the HIFI aerial run to the rear, the car aerial stuffed up the rear piller then finally settled on the Halford powered 12v aerial as the best reception. I wasn't sure about a decent earth so ran the power and earth connections back to the radio along with the aerial connection.
I stuck the aerial inside the top of the boot, on that ridge above the black boxes above the fuel tank. It works pretty well for a cerbera but isn't a patch on normal cars.
I was thinking about trying one of those BMW Sharks fin types next if the are amplified?

p standard radio which is giving you probs and the antenna may be OK) - He fitted a new stero for me (because I wanted wireless for the mobile) which has OK reception with the standard antenna (but I cannot put it on because of battery probs see my other thread...)

6music on tap. glass mount DAB aeriel looks like a slightly larger mobile phone one. Didn't bother with glass mount DAB as it really was crap. I've got one of those Ring ones as above and it's okay, much better than nowt, but nothing in comparison to the DAB.
