So we are told(employees) that an UNAMED company are looking to move into Bristol Avenue and in good faith take on all the staff to build cars for them, what did TVR do? LAID off 158 already DEJECTED workforce without pay.
Workers are leaving every week and just want to get out of the place, is this what is called an act off GOOD WILL towards the UNAMED company, so they dont have any staff if they take over at Bristol Avenue. Please explain.
ps, excuse spelling in title.

Sorry to hear about your dilemma but I think you're asking the wrong people.

Odd this. I'm sure KirstM posted a message last night with a link to a local Blackpool news site but I can't find it now.... unless I'm blind !??! silly The news site reported a similar story.

If it's true I'm confused. Is this un-named buyer taking over TVR or just building cars there under a different name? If TVR are still leaving and the factory is still owned by PW why would TVR be involved in negotiations with a new tenant ?

Someone has possibly seen an opportunity as - people exist who want cars (although not purchasing enough current cars leaving TVR in the state its in!), dealers exist who want to sell cars, and workers exist who want to build cars. This is all possible to achieve by eliminating TVR from the equation whilst TVR have overseas adventures making expensive cars (with the Ricardo development and expanding markets the development costs mean that TVR's will be most likely 911 money).
Maybe said unnamed person(s) are trying to get TVR out of the building before the lease expires with PW ?

NS is taking the TVR name and moving it to europe/wherever, he's not selling but he's leaving the bristol ave site along with the workforce which is now called Blackpool Automotive. Blackpool Automotive is either gonna be dissolved or maybe NS can make somthing from it and sell it, to an "unamed buyer" maybe..

It makes you wonder how long TVR have been planning for this, the re-introduction of Blackpool Automotive in the summer seemed to be more for possible Financial gain that any other reason. Is it true that TVR Power have taken over the name Blackpool Automotive???

Workers suffer as TVR talks continue
MANY of the workers ousted by Blackpool sports car maker TVR are so worried about their future they are now being treated for depression and long-term sickness.

More than 150 staff were laid off two weeks ago as the company ceased production at its historic Bristol Avenue factory in preparation for a move abroad.
At a crunch meeting, held yesterday, between the unions and management, all 260 workers were told everything was being done to keep TVR in Blackpool.
TVR's Russian owner Nikolai Smolenski and his management team are now said to be in talks with an unnamed company which wishes to takeover the beleaguered factory.

WTF does that mean?????? They've announced that they are moving and have laid the staff off. How can they be "doing everything they can to keep TVR in Blackpool??? banghead

The article doesn't mention that the company they are in talks with are car builders - presumably the factory could be used for other production purposes ?

I would have thought the factory would only be an attractive purchase if the production jigs and skilled staff were able to carry on making cars there. Surely it would be quite expensive to make anything else there as it's fitted out for car production isn't it?

So presumably the factory is only of interest to people interested in manufacturing fibreglass bodied cars with a steel chassis, rather than people interested in making washing machines or something entirely different.

If that is the case this is a hugely positive development. Personally I don't think Smellyskins has any hope of ever turning around TVR even if he moves it to Italy or wherever and I reckon he knows it. He would appear to lack the flair for designing and building what people want to buy and clearly lacks business acumen and leadership skills compared to the previous owners. The best thing for him, the workers and for us would be if he sold it to a new owner with a Martin Lilley or Peter Wheeler type approach.

When they take it over they should IMHO immediately source a mass produced V8 and ditch the Speed 6 which has single handedly reduced the company to its knees. Then put the 'Phoenix' into production - a mk3 Griff with a woofly GM/Ford etc V8 and classic sportscar styling. As a longer term project they should work to develop the 'S5' a new entry level Roadster.

I pray that for the sake of TVR's dedicated workforce someone with vision, talent and passion buys TVR and secures their jobs. In the meantime 500 of us will be in London this weekend to show our support for Britain's greatest remaining automotive marque.
