Whirlwind Induction?

I noticed recently that the Purple Pipes on my 4.5 are looking tired, discoloured and wearing thin in places where the wire reinforcing is. Thinking of getting Whirlwind type kit using short hoses with remap early in New Year. I know it varies from car to car but what kind of increases can this upgrade be expected to give on a car that is Standard other than Blue Flame sports pipes? Has anyone got any Before & After dyno graphs to post here for comparison?

Remap and whirlwind should see you to around 400bhp, possibly a touch more. No before or after graphs to hand, but look up some of "cyclone1"s threads and you'll see his car in various states of tune, from memory his before figures was 380ish with remap to 406 with whirlwind. I may be slightly out on the figures, but you get the idea. Well worth it IMHO.

I had the whirlwind fitted at TCS yesterday, just in time for a day a Bruntingthorpe today, and you can see the results above. The two sets of curves are before and after, with the induction tubes and a remap.

My car was making 377 bhp before and 401 after, which is nice. It has also resulted in a very smooth curve, much better than before, and lets the engine usefully rev higher too. Jools reckoned that about 5 bhp of the gain was the remap, the rest was the tubes alone.

Although my car was always quite strong low down it didn't hold the power high in the rev range, for no obvious reason. The new induction tubes seem to have overcome this so my gain might well be higher than average.

Just a few years ago a genuine 400 horsepower Cerb would have been PH front page news but now I'm one of many. A big thanks to all those involved in the tuning and development effort, particularly Jools in my case.

Now, where do I get my 400 Club badge ?

Based on exactly zero knowledge of such things, Im suprised Jools only attributes 5bhp to his mapping skills?

Adding the pipes to Mark's (already mapped) car made top 390s bhp .. just a bit of tweaking gave the 401bhp i ended up with. The before graph he has was all I could get from the car with the std pipes, it should have made good hp up top but just flatlined on the hp we were hoping the short pipes would make the difference but I was amazed at how it transformed the car's power delivery. There was obviously something very strange going on with the std induction on his car which was limiting it's output. It now gives exactly what we would expect

So the short pipes made about 20hp extra on this car which is extraordinary, i normally expect 10-12bhp, and about the last 5hp from the map.

Great smooth curves and healthy increase in power and delivery (nice strong power low down as well!). You've got to love those Whirlwind Pipes
