Door Magnets

[Mr Freefall]

Anyone know where I can get the little door magnets that attach to the body sill. Mine are missing, and my door will not recognise that it is shut, therefore the door will not close the window or lock the car...

TVR only sell them as a set @ £43.00 with the swithc etc, which I dont need for just the magnet.

The are about the diametre of and old half pence, bigger would not be a problem, and they are simply stuck to the bodywork. Thickness I would imagine to be 5 pence piece. The rest of the switch is adjustable on the door side, so it can be adjusted here.

The switch itself is from RS, item no. 455-3744 and they are £6.93+ VAT each

Just looked back at a couple of old threads, you may find this useful:

If you need the magnetic bit, then they are exactly the same size as magnets that are used on white boards etc., available from office world. Just remove the plastic bit, and araldite in.

Cheers Tim, for that price I will order a couple just in case, and have a look in office world. My problem seems to be that the car does not know the door is shut, therefore the window will not go up and when allarming, the door does not lock. Need to sort this out as the Doberman really is starting to make a mess in the car overnight now...

Hi Mr F, email me an address over, and I'll pop a couple of sets of contacts out to you. They come in two parts, the part with the screws has a reed in, the other bit has the magnet in.

You'll need to prize them out as they're glued in.

Cheers Russell. Be good to know if we get the right ones, as TVR only sell sets at £39.50+VAT, and that seems a lot for the magnet. As Tim stated the parts from Rs Comnts are £6.95 +vat each...

I will let you know if these work, and venture to my local office supplier to see if they can help out. All I need is an orional one to get the right size and Pull. Alex at Austec has as usual been great, unfortunaly there guy is on holiday who knows where to get them, bugger...

looks like Dobbie the Doberman will be sleeping rought tonight again in the back of the Cerb...
