Top Gear Website - NEWS section coverage
Discussion
Finally got the guys at Top Gear to put something in the News section of their website which will hopefully give us a little wider audience and capture a few more stragglers. The Magazine are intending to have someone at the ACE cafe on Sunday to capture pictures and feature this in their magazine.

That's not necesary. At the risk of starting another protest, I've just sent this to 'tgweb@bbc.co.uk'

Top Gear,
RE: TVR fans take on London.
Do you think the closing line “And here's hoping that all the cars make it around London.” is really necessary?
This is a serious issue regarding the loss of people’s livelihoods and the loss of yet another British manufacturing facility.
I think you should remove the closing line – the article is perfect without it.
Kind regards

I don't have a TVR anymore so I won't be joining you but I wish you all well with this.
I would be a little disappointed if Top Gear didn't send one of JC, JM or RH in person to cover the event. I would have thought it the least they could do since it was PH that kicked off the Yorkshire Air Ambulance fund raising appeal following RH's accident. I appreciate that PH is not a dedicated TVR site, but I would imagine that TVR owners make up the majority of active contributors. Also, the magnitude of the event alone should dictate that one of their top boys should be in attendance to cover it.
To Answer the questions about Fifth Gear and Top Gear program, yes we have been in contact with them. I spoke to Top Gear and David sent emails highlighting that PH started the air ambulance appeal etc... But as yet there are no plans to cover it apart from the magazine. David bumped into Fifth gear last time he was at the ACE he spoke to them and they were considering it but didnt think they had a suitable slot as most are full. So no go at the moment.

I've just informed BBC London's News section of the event. They said they'd review it on Saturday to see if they can "fit it in".
"Well, if there are massive hold-ups in the capital on Sunday and you're not covering it you'll look awfully out-of-touch to the Londoners your supposed to be serving".
My family are in Central London so they'll let me know.
Edited to add: When asked if she was aware of the TVR protest rally in the capital on Sunday the in-the-know woman on the 'News' desk opened with: "So, whats a TVR then (snigger)?"
Stupid

Bet it would be different if the rally was in the South of France

You are joking of course
Top Gear hates TVRs. Hence this childish dig in the web-news piece. They recently wrote this in the mag "Peter Wheeler - Gruff tab smoking businessman. Kept TVR going far longer than necessary, to the delight of a handful of masochistic unreliability enthusiasts and no one else. Then somehow managed to flog the whole shebang to a Russian urchin, allowing the saga to grind on long after most people stopped caring."
And like when the inital news of issues at the factory broke 3 or 4 months ago, they said "as if anyone cares"
given this attitude one would not expect anything on their web site without a sarcastic jibe at TVR.
On a side note, have we contacted all the London Radio stations?
Capital
Heart
Virgin
Magic
LBC
BBC London
Even if we just send them an email for their travel news (i.e it could be busy along the parade route).
Radio Stations usually scrimp for travel & local news reports anyway, (I know I am involved with local radio) so you could try hitting them with a press release.
