I will let you know. I have not seen it but have been on the phone to a guy in an Exeter Ferrari Masserati Dealership, Cars of something they are called. He told me that it is a really good car.

The wheels are off for refurb at the mo, and he is going to have the bonnet painted because of a couple of stone chips, just to get it tip top. Other than that, it has a small crease in the grille, how much am I looking for to get a new/used one of those?

Zero rust by all accounts, inside or outside of panels

I am flying up next Friday to pic her up, subject to my inspection

In the pictures the small crease in the grille looks like a fairly big dent in the panel in front of the bonnet. On a 4200 its some sort of plastic, not sure on the 3200....

looks like its damaged both to the grill and also to the surrounds which is one piece i think including bumper. pretty sure its plastic/fibreglass. would be worried the bonet could be pushed out of shape too. all looks repairable tho

nice colour combo too

Just had a look for it on Autotrader - its listed as a trade sale by the Bedlington Motor Company, who are Newcastle way.... (or should that be Wye-eye biglaugh....!!)

Surprised it's pictured in what appears to be a typical used car lot, looks out of place.

Also - that 'crease' on the front looks more of a concern now I've looked closer... something is also wrong with the grill surround just above the Trident....

Is it me, but it looks too cheap???

UPDATE

The damage to the front is the grille only its shadow you can see on the pics, and they are going to straighten it. If they can'd then it will be a new one.

Indeed it is from a TVR and Porche dealer in Newcastle, but I spoke to Piers from CARRS who took it in PX, and he has 8 4200's in stock at the mo and he did not want to have the 3200 detracting from this.

He knows the newcastle lot and speaks very highly of them, and offers this sort of car to them when he gets them in part exchange....but hey, they are car dealers so who knows what's true!!!

All I know is what I have been told from the things I have learnt from viewing and driveing 5 or 6.

1. It has no rust starting in the door lower edges, inside or out. Same for the boot and the bonnet and arches.
2. It has 28.5k on the clock and has had 2 owners from new with full Main Dealer Service history from day 1
3. I have written to the previous owner who hopefully will call me
4. Everything works.
5. It has just had a full service 2 weeks ago (Main Dealer - Carrs)
6. It is in the process of having its bonnet painted due to stone chips, but in Carrs opinion they would just have touched it in.
7. All 4 wheels have been sent off for refurb plus 2 new M Pilots fitted to the rear.
8. It has original exhaust on it, which I suppose will be on its last leggs, but I was going to upgrade this anyway
9. Comes with 12m MOT, 6mts TAX, 6mths warranty.
10. Has red key and all receipts.

The only faults that the dealer has informed me of and is sending pics of it the front grille and drivers bolster has a very small amount of wear

Anything else any of you can think of

Check for weeping shocks,

Get it put on the diagnostic to see what codes have been stored.
A throttle potentiometer fault (which will show on the log if it has occured) is intermitent and will cost you 500 - 800 if it dies. They are a very common fault which can be reset, but only lasts a short while before failing again.

I doubt the grille dent in the surround will be able to be knocked out adequately as they they are made from thick chrome plated steel. They occasionally surface on ebay with a stainless mesh attached but even then sell for a reasonable sum.

Check the disc wear. 32mm = new and 30mm = knackered. You wont get much change out of £1500 for discs and pads.

They are known to occasionally weep oil from the back of the rocker cases and the only way to check is give it a run and see if there any oil spots showing on the back spoiler.

The oil pressure should be 4.5 - 5 bar at all times. even on tick over.

Matt if you need anymore info, you've got my number.

nice one, thanks. The warranty it comes with is very comprehensive and covers the electrics to. The salesman guy said that if they will warranty a TVR, they will warranty anything.

Brakes, yes, I understand.

So next question is what exhaust to go for......uummm!!

I want something that is deep and base(y) at idle but not intrusive in the cabin at speed....until you boot it of course

Larini / Quicksilver / Tubi (dont want to go to Tubi money, I hear they are £1500 plus, half that is more what I am after, and I know I can get Larini done for that but have not idea if they are anygood/too noisy) I have heard that the Quickies are very noisy.

Check the maximum labour rate per hour on the warranty. If they will only pay £50 / and you decide to put in a main dealer a £100 per hour the extra 50 will be down to you.

Also check which Major components are covered. Believe it or not there are warranties which will not cover gearbox's or other major bits. What is the claim limit for any one incident? etc, etc, etc. Fairly often, dealer warranties are not worth the outlay to extend for the risk.

I had a warranty on mine for the first 21/2 years from the manufacturer. Never claimed, never renewed, and (touch wood) I've never had an incident which would have made a warranty a godsend. I have probably saved £5+ k over the years by not renewing the warranty.

I think that the dent in front will be a little more costly to replace/repair than most are thinking.
1) Chrome grille surround = guestimate £700.00
2) The distorted panel is one piece from the lower half of the front wing in front of the wheel all the way around to the other side. = guestimate £loads of money.
3) decent paint and colour match £500.00 ish.

I hope Im wrong but dent in the front, kerbed wheels, and moved on by a main dealer to a general car sales all spells trouble to me. Sorry

Only time will tell. Anyway, its mine if I want it, plus I get my deposit back if I don't If it has no issues or rust, a bit of TLC will bring it back to life.

Only problem is a flight to Newcastle....do I get a return or a 1 way???

If I get a 1 way, it will be a shed, if I get a return it will be fine....the law of the sod!

The rear passener seat looks worn unless its the photo - thats unusual because the rear seats dont usually get used that much.
