I had a new 'Clever Trevor' Slave Cylinder fitted by Steve Howard at Euphoria Racing, once they had fitted it (and put everything back together), Steve rang me to say 'Big Problems, the clutch wont disengage, it feels like the Slave cylinder is stuck'. I was well pi***d off, the car has been in the garage for 7 weeks and I was expecting it back that day, so I rang Keith at Clever Trevor on Saturday to tell him the bad news.
He immediately set the wheels in motion to investigate the problem. I had the news from him today that he has found the problem, the seals were 0.2mm to big, today his Technical guy has driven 300 miles to Euphoria to speak to Steve about it, they have exchanged the slave cylinder for a new one, and I will have it fitted at no cost.

Isnt it really good when a company pulls all the stops out to immediately sort out a problem - so a BIG reccomendation for Clevor Trevor.

Bu the way he also showed Steve - who knows a thing or two about Cerbs, and is a real perfectionist - the new clutches he supplies, and Steve is well impressed with them, and if he likes them I think you can be confident thay are good.!

You'll have to give me the contact details of Euphoria sometime Alan. It'll be good to keep taking the car to them.

Steve does know his stuff, I'd highly recomend him. He knows Cerb's inside out, wont rip you off, he's a real "Keep 'em standard, but sorted" man. I asked him to fit linked De-Cat pipes on, and he nearly exploded "Alan the AJP V8 is 2 friggin 4 cylinder engines bolted together, you do not link the pipes on them, you keep them seperate"

Interesting you mention this. I've queried the benefits of the linking in the past, since I wondered how the exhaust pulses from the two banks would interact with each other. If you link the two banks I can see how you gain additional flow out of the system for each exhaust pulse, but, I cannot work out whether you gain or lose the scavenging effect of the exhaust pulse through linking.

My thinking is that within one bank, you lose some of the pressure that would have been reflected back to the exhaust valve, since some of it has now exited into the other bank's exhaust system. However you would gain some from pressure from a previous pulse in the opposite bank. Whether you get re-inforcement or cancellation of the pressure waves exchanged between banks I don't know. I guess you'd have to model it to be sure. Whatever, I'm sure Steve didn't make that remark this without basis.

Steve.

A good point mate. I'd have thought not, given the comment from Steve, but have not seen one cut open to know.

The rear box doesn't link the system, it has 2 internal separate "S" shaped perforated pipes.

But as the 2 pipes are perforated inside a single box would this not mean that there is not some linking going on?
Admittedly maybe not as effective as the link pipes, and being at the back probably doesn't help much either!!

No because the perforated pipes are clad with steel wool and the box is stuffed with Fibreglass wadding.

Thing is the linked de-cat pipes have been shown to work on the dyno....

The linking of the two is mainly to provide a sudden increase in area to provide a partial reflection and a more definite 'end' to the primary pipe.

Its the same theory as running a resonator box on a 4 cylinder but taking advantage of the opposite banks exhaust system 'unused' volume that is to say its 'unused' at the time the pulse is travelling past.

Its not a huge effect but it is there.
