Which maybe a bit closer to you. Also not cheap IIRC (bit of a common theme when it comes to Porche..)

P, YOU know who to use, now get in your Nissan, get yourself up to Aylesbury and go visit Neil. The idea of PH is to learn from folk who have had experience in such matters and if the required specialist happens to be close to home then BINGO, you are on a winner, if not, tuff titty, post it or take it personally to the specialist.
P, I hear what you say but don't be put off by what Neil said, he speaks his mind as do most folk that know their onions but he is still in the business of building gearboxes and no matter what parts you choose to fill it with, I am confident that you will not get a better job done by a better builder (I have not come across one yet anyhow).

While we're on this subject, anyone know of a place making longer 6th gears for the G50-20/21 boxes???
Been discussed recently including price.
Seems the same gear will go in as 6th in a 6 speed or fifth in the 5 speed.
Steve
Steve, can you PM me some more details/costings...
cheers
Pete

I thought the price was in the other thread but it seems not.
The gear is from PHII and is a ratio of .688. which in my G50/20 would replace a .755. In theory this would give me 225mph @ 7000rpm.
Luckp has just bought one of these gears so may be willing to post the price.
I'm told it lives in the very back housing of the box so in principal it should be possible to change the gear with the box still in the car. Put the back up on stands and you may not need to drain the oil.

0.688 was $712 and I got an OE 0.967 to replace my 4th for $495.
I was just concerned that I would drop outta the 4000s when changing from stock fourth to custom fifth if I didn't bridge the gap.

Ok, sounds good, esp after waiting 3 days for 3 & 1/2 liters of 70/90 to go thru a 1mm wide fu%%ing hole...
I found these figures for the g50/20 & 21 on the net...
Gear G50/20 G50/21
1 3.818 3.818
2 2.047 2.150
3 1.407 1.560
4 1.110 1.242
5 0.921 1.027
6 0.775 0.820
Makes for an interesting comparison, I think the G50/20 is the US version and the 21 is the EU version...
Anyone know what the ring & pinion ratios are?

Yes those are the correct ratios and their origins. My G50/20 is American 993.
The ring/pinion ratio is 3.444 on almost all G50s
