I am running a Netgear DG834PN and have it all locked down so only our 3 laptops can connect. But need to go a step further as my daughter is turning nocturnal surfing and chatting til 4am each morning!!

What I am hoping to do is offer a window of connectivity to her machine, i.e 0700 - 1100 and allow it no access to the net outside of these hours. The Netgear does allow schedules but it applies them to all machines, and if I want to connect at 2am then I censored well will hehe

Is there a piece of software out there I can get, or am I missing something on the router?

TIA

Could you create a home network such that she has to login to her machine with a user account, and then from a admin account put login restrictions on her account so she can only use the computer in a certain time frame?

Trying to solve social problems with technology is doomed to failure.

Tell her to stop. If she won't, take her laptop away from her. Doubtless you paid for it.

Interesting stance. If I didn't work from home I would disconnect the broadband completely.

Thing is asking a 19 year old to stop doing something will only make them want to do it more. Although at 19 she should be ok to do whatever she pleases, which I am fine with, but not when it impacts me and she lays in bed til mid day the following day - my house, my rules!

Actually she did buy the laptop herself, I ain't that flush!

Took a look and they are great but require installation on her machine. Not practical.

Was wondering if there is something I can do at the router end?

Get a proxy server and have all traffic go through that before the router. Should be able to tie down access rules and monitor traffic with that.

If you have another pc in the house that is always on, and always there then you can probably get some shareware proxy that will do the job. Then simply point her IE options to always go through the proxy. Dont even need to tell her.

How often are you likely to want to log in at 2.00AM?

If it's only now again then it's a moments work to log into the router and change the schedule.

Yes, this is looking the most likely.
