Chaps

Heard various report of the descrepanices between car prices in these two trade bibles. I just wondered which of the two was most favoured out there as subscribing to both seems a little OTT? (but maybe necessary)

Cheers

Depends what you are dealing in and also who you are dealing with...........I use Glasses but thats just my preference.........Glasses is the choice guide for prestige stuff, CAP for showing customers !

Can't remember which way around it was, but the saying was something like buy off CAP and sell off Glasses.

Rather than subscribing, have you thought about signing up for online valuations? Then you only pay for the valuations you do.
Drop me a PM if you're interested, this is what the company I work for do.

So I take it from both comments that CAP prices are traditionally lower that Glass's. I can see that as a double edged sword. When valuing a part-ex you will present a lower price & therefore potentially realise more margin when you retail it. But then when bidding competitively your maximum will be lower that that of others using other guides (if you solely base your decision of guide prices)

I do realise that they are only guides, and that market experience and gut instinct are also major factors when buying and selling.

I am currently researching the industry and welcome this kind of feedback. Another area I am interested in is companies providing customer finance. What companies do you use, and do you feel that any stand above the others in terms of the deal hey offer the buying customer and the incentives they offer the selling dealer?
