Hi the previous owner to my Chimaera didn't squash the back section of the roof down as he said he was worried about the perspex getting crunched up and damaged (it is very clear on my hood). Any thoughts about this, are there problems with the perspec getting creased and whitneing due to folding? Is there a good way to fold rood down?
thanks

Put a folded towel in there to stop the plastic getting creased, also I only leave mine down whilst I am actually using it. After the journey, put it up again

Get yourself a beach towel or a rug and roll it into a sausage. Put this in the screen when you fold the hood to stop it rubbing. Be careful when folding it down when its cold too as it will be stiff and more likely to crease.

Alternatively you could just leave it down all the time you big jessie

I never got the towel thing to work properly.
To be honest, don't worry about it too much, yes it'll maybe if you are not careful crease a bit - may even go milkey, but just put it down to the fun of using the car.

There is a product you can put on it that keeps it supple, been meaning to get some but keep forgetting the name - Aero7 or something?

Use it and enjoy it - that's what they are for - and if the perspex gets really tatty you can have it replaced on insurance as glass cover with just the £50 xs. Well you can on my policy.

Not the one you were thinking of, but I've found the Meguiar's plastic cleaner/polish products work very well - see here

Neither have I.
I just give the centre on each side of the car a little karate style chop and smooth out any creases as it goes down. I actually found it to be smoother than with the towel.
Just be careful when its cold and brittle.

Yep - I should have added that too.

Also, make sure the velcro is fully undone and it goes down much further.

Where the hood joins the body behnd the doors, and also a flap goes down inside the car - make sure it is all disconnected before folding.

I have an old hairdryer in the garage, just give the screen a little warm over and it folds like it would on a hot summers day

No probs at all, the section goes right the way down. Not quite flush with the boot but enough to see passed traffic reducing to small dot's at a respectable rate.

I know the Griff drivers have the roff off all the time. First mistake of owning a Griff, taking the roof off. You are all too scared you'll put your backs out lifting them back on.

scratchchin Guess you must all leave the roof panel at home? No way you could get that and a zimmer frame in the boot together is there?

Wow - Imagine my surprise when I saw from your profile you drove a Chim. I thought with a handy hairdryer in the garage you simply had to be a Griff owner.....

Yep, karate chop is the method i use too!

Only put the roof down when it's warm and the window is flexible. I find it's far to stiff in this cold weather.

No problem taking the hood off in cold weather. My chim lives outdoors and always has condensation/mist inside the windscreen. So although I hate to do it I usually run the engine on the drive for 2-3 minutes with the blower on to demist the screen. At the same time this warms up the interior and usually puts enough heat into the rear screen to allow it to fold nicely
