964 RS will also have the durability of it's seam welded shell.

Funily enough cs despite this being well known in 964RS circles I've never actually seen the seamwelds on an RS and the ex Dom red baron is a real RS all right and is currently a totally striped bare shell and she ain't seamwelded.

So I'm wondering if it was only Clubsports, but ive had a nose about under them too and they look just like a 'normal' 964

what do ya reckon 9m?

Surely 9M will put us right....I have definitely seen a 964 RS shell seam welded...as you say maybe it was a Clubsport / Cup car....I may be slightly confused on 964,but I was under the impression that 993 RS are seam welded in all versions.?...
Iguana I fear we will have to wait until the boys in the know are back from Oulton park until we are educated further.

Petre Morgan's book "Original Porsche 911", describing the basic RS Lightweight, says

"Special seam welding was used on the bodyshells and the wing edges were rolled to enable larger wheels to be fitted..."

I think the seam welding myth is just that.... a myth. I've looked at lots of RS's (964 & 993) and have not spotted any seam welding yet. Does anyone know what seams are reputedly involved?
It may have been just the Cup/race cars. I had a chance to look in Melvin's 964Cup car on Saturday but forgot.

Also, I felt for arch rolling on a number of 993RS's on Saturday (how sad), most weren't but at least one was. This suggests to me that the standard/narrow body must only just cover the 18"s and therefore some of the cars required arch rolling due to production tolerances of the body manufacture.
