Love the rear mirror, a nice touch with the liquid crystal TV
I like the roof, a nice finish to the cars look and I would like to see one close up but a not bad looking car though

I still want a smoking V8 Griff

Nice car, but I'd much rather have a Tamora if I was spending that much cash on a new toy.

Saw this at both previous UK motor shows and it is IMHO a bt of an aquired taste, and not to mine. The roof arrangement is basically for effect and totally unpracticle, leave asside rear vision (I wouldn't trust a tv screen personally ) but simply talking to ones passenger is nigh on impossible with a huge lump of bodywork in the way. Sorry chaps I'll stick to my Griffith - perfect looks and a roof that comes off! R...

There I was reading through the article, lots of oohhing, ahhing, I seeing, looks goodish types of thoughts running through my mind when I get to the part where it says services at vauxhall dealers....."f***ing, s*d, that for a games of marbles" Vauxhall dealers can't even service Vauxhalls let alone a low production 36k car. Sorry boys it just lost all credibility.

And the statement about Vauxhall can be coroborated by myself so no tellings off please, and if you want proof, I have it....lots of it!

I like the look of this car but couple of points.

Do the roof bits go in the boot? ie can you have open top on doubious days or do you make a choice at the start of the day and thats it.

I DON'T like the Mobile Phone thing on the dash. My mobile gets turned off and put in my pocket. Even hands free are a pain in the a*se. Or is it a remote control? (why have a remote control in a car? I can reach the buttons!)

I like its looks and hope it can come to the USA--we need some sportscar excitement!

I don't know about the visability, though...

Having a closer look at the pic that remote looks very similar to my one at home for SKY !!! maybe it is and the rear view mirror / telly thing actually has sky tv !!!! No sign of the dish though and I can't imagine it would be cable

I hear you... I almost stopped reading at that point...

Who took the editorial decision to allow "Vauxhall Dealer" and "expertise" into the same paragraph ?? lol...

The same person that thought Griff-Rhys Jones in a pair of Y-fronts would sell a sports car

I believe Trident have got dozens though. Talking to Bill Chubbs the MD, it would appear that they have had trouble balancing the need to get the car ready with the levels of interest in it being difficult to service at the same time - your case being a good example.

Thought I'd wait a while befor responding to the many, valid comments...

The roof panels work well and are highly practicable. At all but the highest speeds conversation, and visibility, between driver and passenger is excellent.

Servicing will be restricted to a selection of GM specialist dealers and not available at every Vauxhall dealer.

smeagol
Roof panels stow in the boot, still allowing room for luggage. "Mobile phone thing" is the sat/nav remote controller.

A V8-engined version will be available in North America in 2004.

BJS
I have no hesitation in taking this opportunity to make a public apology. One day, perhaps...

Bill, fair enough but for me I like my sports cars to be full roof off "roadsters", not "targas" or whatever. Indeed at the same show as I saw the Trident I was in conversation with PW on the TVR stand. He asked me when (note his presumptive close) I would swap my Griffith 500 for a Tuscan? When the roof comes off properly was my reply. Same still hold true. Good luck Rich...

Bill, can you buy the car without the sat/nav remote, as I think it spoils a very nice interior.

Good to hear about the roof panels.

I agree, it doesn't look right. The sat/nav system is an option and, on the prototype, doubles as the monitor for the reversing camera. The sat/nav remote control can be positioned anywhere in the cockpit and, if preferred, need not be fixed.
