Anyone done the rounds recently - who's best for 3000 miles per year fixed mileage schemes? Best quote to date is £450. Alternatively Norwich Union pay as you go scheme will work out around 370, anyone gone with them?

Use Norwich Union Direct , £575 protected , unlimited mileage but I'm old !

What is the pay as you go scheme all about. Do you have to have a black box fitted? If so then watch for T&C's as there was another thread on PH somewhere else about invalidating your insurance should have been speeding, which of course they would know

I have a guilty confession to make - I did some of the work for the software drivers for that norwich union pay as you drive thing. If its the same as it was then, it uses GPS for the speed so presumably if you put some tin foil over the GPS antenna you can do what you like.

Mannings for me, 7K mileage, plus trackday cover for just over £400. That's about what I was paying Directline for our old espace :O

Hadn't thought about that black box telling them when I was over the speedlimit - scary! Wonder if they do record that stuff and use it against you

Misremembered it though, it was a 15% discount if you didn't speed (ever I guess). I still think the idea is a dangerous one however. This was Direct Line so others may well do things differently.

Hagerty. I used to be with Mannings and hagerty is HALF the cost. I now pay just over 300 squids and I used to pay south of 700......

Seconded. I pay less that £350 for myself and wife on a 3K miles PA policy (4.2 Cerbera) A mate went with them on his 4.5, paying just a little over £300, again for a 3000 mile policy. Excludes track days, but they charge 10% of policy per day, s about £35 per trackday.

Top blokes too, very efficient and know the cars... not just a call centre.
