Any work permit Gurus here?

I ahve a girl working for me whos 2 year visa expires next august. Within the terms of her visa she is permitted to work for 12 months in the UK. This expires at the end of December and she has been told that she will have to return to Oz to apply for a work permit. She is distraught as she believed she could do it in the UK and as a result has made the decision to relcoate back to Oz with her english boyfriend for good.

do you know if this si the case of is there another option open to her?

I don't know the details, but my bro in law was in a similar situation. Was here on a Student Visa, completed his degree and was offered a job in the city. Was told that he need to go back and get the work permit, but he pushed back a little, and the Bank's lawyer said it can be possible to get it done here, but was a bit more work. That was 3 weeks ago, and he got his visa yesterday. But like I said, don't know the details. He's joined the investment bank this week, leaves the house at 7am now and rarely back before 11pm, so not had a chance to talk to him. When he was at Uni, it was the other way round... out of bed at 7pm, back in bed about 11am... much better now.
