Pinto Exhaust Manifold
Discussion
Hi All,
Anyone know what the 'best' style of exhaust manifold would be for a Pinto track/race car (not going to be used on the road) - 4 into 1 or 4-2-1 etc. I'm toying with getting a new set of headers made as one currently isn't level with the head and leaks, so I thought I might try and get any inprovements if possible. Its currently 4-1.
Thanks,
James

conventional wisdom says a long 4into 1 is best for the revy end of the market.
4into 2 into 1 is better for usable power.
however there are big power gains to be had from making the inlet ports smaller and the right shape.
what have you done to your pinto to make it rev?
on track a nice wide power band will be better than a race setup.(unless you have a whole pile of gear sets to suit the track you are at)
i hate pintos but they are cheap and they can put up with abuse.140bhp at the wheels is a good engine without going silly money.
however there are new 16v lumps that do more power standard and cost less to buy.
