When calling overseas from my mobile I generally use a service like one of those international calling cards except you call a mobile (07) number and don't have to put in a code.

Now my latest mobile bill has a load of charges, including one for over £10+vat for a half hour call. I have not used all my minutes. All together there's around £20 worth of these calls on there.

I called vodafone to have a bit of a rant and try and get a refund, after all if I call an 0800 number I get a message telling me it'll cost me. Calling an 07 number should be included in my minutes so I'd at very least expect the same (ignoring the bigger issue of them actually charging - imagin BT blocking the use of skype!)

Anyway I assumed that maybe they had a blacklist of numbers used for such services, however the operator I spoke to was able to tell me that the call's we're routed to the US. Now as far as vodafone should be concerned the calls terminated at the 07 number. The only way I can see how they could tell what happened after that is by monitoring and recording the key tones after the call was answered.

The lady I spoke with couldn't explain how they know where the calls terminated and she's going to get someone more technical to call me back to discuss the matter further.

In the meantime can anyone here shed light on the matter?

Fortunatly I haven't taken my upgrade yet so am in the clear to leave them whenever I like cool
