How annoyed would you be if your driveshaft unbolted itself 8 weeks (800 miles driven) after you bought you car?

How pi$$ed off would you be if, after taking it back to the person who serviced it as part of the purchase deal, you were told 'this is safety critical, should have been checked and tightened at the last service' then charged by that same person to fix it?

How F***ING FURIOUS would you be if, when you took your car for it's next service elsewhere you were told: 'whichever clown used some random, totally unsuitable bolt from B&Q to replace that missing one needs a damn good kicking, and they were all loose again...'

I shall of course respect Ted's policy, but this individual is out there, and lots of people think he's brilliant.

First I've heard of a driveshaft causing so much problem! Are you getting people telling you this is a common problem? Is it fixed now?

I haven't been told it is a common problem, merely that the bolts should be checked at each service. They obviously weren't checked just before I bought the car, as they fell out within 2 months, causing the rear wheels to lock up (needed skates to move the car). Worse, when the car was repaired, it was done a using substandard part (not high tensile steel, too weak for the application). The bolts then loosened up again after c. 4k miles.

It's now been taken care of by professionals who certainly seem to have a much better idea of what they are doing.
