I'm going to be moving my PC soon into the same room as my Hi-fi, so I'm looking to upgrade my sound card and connect the PC to the Hi-fi.
Any recomendations for a good sound card?

M-Audio

There is no better soundcard.

Try the Audiophile 2496 for amazing stereo reproduction or the Revolution 5.1/7.1 for AC3 reproduction.

Isn't the new Creative sound card (x-fi?) supposed to be the mutts nuts?

Sorry to hijack this thread a little,i have the M-audio 2496 and its a great card! Now to the hijacking bit,i've just been to the M-audio site and downloaded the latest driver, what is the correct procedure to uninstall the old driver and install the new one? It's a .exe file,i've tried every which way and it just keeps showing the date for the old driver(2005)in Device manager when in should be the new one dated 06(even when i uninstall the old driver?)Hope someone can help!

1. Run the EXE for the new driver, it will deal with upgrading existing files and inform Windows of the change.
2. Use Add/Remove Programs, uninstall the software/driver package, then run the EXE.
3. If the EXE is just a self-extracting zip file with no setup.exe inside of it, use Device Manager to update the driver (double click the item, select update, point to directory).
