Hi all!

New to the mini fold, have just bought a 2006(06) Mini One D. My younger bro got one a few weeks ago and it turned me! Coming from a Citroen C2, the Mini is better in every way! Paid 13.5k for it (not taking the trade in for the C2 into account) think it was a fair price looking at Autotrader and Mini Cherished prices.

A few (rubbish) pics from the advert:

It has a few extras:

17" R99 polished double-spoke alloys,
Harmon Kardon sound system - very very impressed by this!
Half leather seats
Alarm (presume this is different to central locking?!)
Zip decal on the roof
Chili pack

Roll on two weeks to delivery! Anything I should look out for?

P.S does anyone know what power the Harmon Kardon system is? (watts?)

Hi wavey

Thanks, yeh I love the wheels, think they make the car what it is. Wanted to find a car that was worth changing my car, so had to find a decent spec'd ONE D
They come in antrhacite (sp?) aswell but think that would have been a little too dark with all the black going on!

Is the MINI forum usually this quiet?

HI Mate,

my new mini will have the same wheels - love them. car will be in dark silver so dark wheels is too much I agree- chose the polished version.

I too have upgraded the sound system. New mini does not come with HK system but should sound just as good - i was blown away when i heard it too.

Agree the forum is quiet - I switched over from Porsche forum which is far more trafficked....sold my boxster 2.7 for the cooperS - still pinching myself!!

Hi, Well seems to be a few posts, but just not much activity, maybe everyone is out driving?!
Im with you on the wheels I personally think that they are the nicest 17 inch wheels in the range. lick
I think the system you have in your new mini is better than the H/K system, is it called the sound modul? If it is its gonna be bloody good!

I listened to the standard hi-fi and found it rather underwhelming - then the dealer let me hear the HK from the old mini and it was far nicer...

I'm intereested to hear from any new mini owner who has the hi-fi upgrade. I ordered it without hearing it as I felt the standard was not adequate.

I don't think parktronic is required on such a compact car like a mini - hardly any overhangs.

In response to Jollys first post, is the HK system around 200watts??? New system upgrade outputs 230watts so it must be close

200 watts? Cool, thats a shed load more than my previous C2 had!

I am pleased to hear that the H/K system seems to be recieving good praise, get my car a week on sat, so will have to make up a CD to test the system on the drive back!

In reponse to the NEW MINI's sound system upgrade... Which one have you gone for? A factory fit one?

I ask because there is something called a Digital POWER SoundModul this is a dealer fit option only (as far as I am aware, could be wrong though!) Its a £900 option and says it takes 5 hours to fit (£££ for labour charges no doubt on top aswell) Acording to the website its a

"Full range digital amplifier with DSP switch for 3D surround sound. Excellent sound quality with a massive power output of 680 watts and 128 decibels!"

OR

Have you gone for the factory fit upgrade which acording to the mini site is:

"Top-class sounds guaranteed with the optional hi-fi system, which combines four bass, two mid-range and four treble speakers with a 230-watt digital amplifier."

i've gone for the factory option - 230watts with 10 speakers...most cost effective at 320£...no knowledge of the uber system you mention

Nice mate, will probably sound nicer than the H/K anyway as it has two more speakers! And IIRC you were impressed by the H/K?

That system with over 600w is a dealer fit option and would probably cost about £1500 including the labour for the dealer to fit it! Probably would be enough to make your ears bleed in a car that small!

Hi tiger333888,

I notice you have made it over to mini2.co.uk!

Here is a link which gives a review of that sound modul system I was on about. I know you have gone for the factory system, but thought you might like a read!

Fingers crossed then! I'm finding it too difficult to wait until a week on saturday! God knows whats it must be like for you! Make sure you get plenty of pics up once it arrives. Think it will be the 1st NEW Cooper S with R99's that I have seen. Obviously the best choice in wheel!

yeah, R99 rims make the mini look like the dog's dangly bits!!!

on top of the waiting, I'm due to fly abroad on the 19th and return in the new year for hols, - there is a remote chance the car will arrive during this period and I will be 8000 miles abroad helpless - timing is a bummer! If on the other hand it comes early, then I will be well made up.

What is holding up your car - a full service, inspection before they release it to you??

Well I am at university in Liverpool, so I can only go home at the weekends! This coming weekend my dad is in France so have to wait until the weekend after to go and pick it up! Then I have 6 days (5 of which I will be back at uni) to drive it before I go skiing for a week! Like you, timing isnt perfect!! However after that it will be driving all over my crimbo holls from Uni!! (when I should be revising for exams!)
