I thought it would be interesting to see how far people travelled, if they had any problems and any other thoughts.

So - Byker28i no 55. 193 miles - dodgy clutch by Picadilly

We've just made it home to Swindon. We cut short our journey at Picadilly Circus as the clutch started overheating and the pedal was going to the floor. Cue London stop start traffic on the way back pumping up the clutch. We got the clutch back as the engine/gearbox cooled down on the A40. However the clutch didn't go until the car had been cooking at 100 for over 3 hours.

Thoughts on the day:
What a great turnout at the Ace.
What happened to the route into town down the A40. We played follow my leader around the streets of Wilsden including some dodgy speed humped back road. Someone playing follow the satnav?
What great comments we had from people along Picadilly, lot of photos taken as we had our flags out

And to the Tuscan flying the purple flag - thanks for leading us out of west end traffic.

Glad to be of assistance, pleased you made it home OK. We had trouble getting into London, some guy flew passed me..So I thought he knows where he's going, I'll follow him...then 2 miles later he stopped and told me he was lost...So we came in via Kensington and joined up at Marble Arch....But what a great day...Keith

Pretty much the same for me. Made it back to Calne in Wiltshire by 7:00pm.

Had a dodgy gear box/clutch at piccadilly and decided to turn back. I could'nt engage any gears whilst stationary, so had to keep it in 1st whilst stationary in the traffic jams. They closed the M4 off at J12&3 so eventually joined the M$ at J4.
The gear box was making a very horrible grinding sound when I got home.

So it is off to David Hendry for repairs.

But a great day and very emotional at the ACE seeing all the TVRs coming in.

Didn't get to the Ace, running late and M4 a nightmare. Nearly made it but n. circular closed so merged into a convoy on the A40. 450 mile round trip (via s gloucestershire, south wales and gatwick on the way home).

byker28i, I was with you from Membury.

I had no issues at all - temperature was steady at 80
all day, tick over perfect - and let's face it there was little opportunity to get above tickover. I am even more impressed with my car than before.

Had some issues with the M4 being closed when we tried to leave London but found a
way round in the end via Heathrow and the M25.

Please thank your good lady for her navigational skills - much appreciated.

Peter.
